Black Myth: Wukong gives players many tools and options to use during combat, with multiple energy types to manage. While your stamina and mana will focus on your base attacks, dodging, and spells, Qi will be earned and used to manage your spirits and vessels.
Spirits are obtained after defeating an enemy, and give the player the ability to take the power from that boss and use it as their own. Vessels are similar but require a bit more work to obtain, and aren't tied to a specific boss, though both use Qi in a different way than spells use Mana.
Black Myth Wukong: Beginner Tips
By following these tips, Black Myth Wukong players will be able to progress smoothly.
How To Recover & Use Qi
Qi is earned any time you attack an enemy in combat, or can be fully replenished any time you rest at a shrine or are revived at one. Your Qi can be seen in two circles along the bottom right of your screen as long as you have a spirit and vessel equipped. You will only earn Qi when one or both are equipped and despite them using the same resource, both bars fill up and are used independently.
Switching your spirit will lose all earned Qi, and is recommended to only be done near a Shrine before resting.
Resting at a Shrine will fill both bars of Qi, and it's recommended to do so before a boss to make sure both of your special abilities are ready to be used whenever needed. Unlike Spirits, Vessels offer a constant buff whenever equipped, which won't use any Qi as they are always in effect. Vessels are a bit more rare to find and the first can be done by ringing all three bells in the Black Wind Mountain.

Silk is a common crafting resource players will need to make new armor in Black Myth: Wukong; here's how to get it.
Using & Upgrading Spirits
The amount of Qi needed to use a spirit is determined by the spirit equipped, with some costing more than others. At a Shrine, players can upgrade their spirits by going into the Self-Advance menu, then select, "Cultivate Spirits".
- The first upgrade will only cost Will, with all later upgrades also having an increasingly higher cost in Will.
- Mid-tier upgrades will require Blood Of The Iron Bull, earned by killing bosses.
-
Higher-tier upgrades will require a
Knot of Voidness, which is a fairly rare upgrade material.
As you upgrade your Spirits, they will not only be more effective in combat but will also lower the Qi cost to use them. This won't change the amount of Qi earned, but can make the Qi goal of stronger spirits be much more achievable for those trying to use a Spirit multiple times against a boss.
