Black Myth: Wukong gives players three stances that can be switched between mid-combat to change up what attack you need to use in any situation. Your stance determines the heavy attack you currently have access to, and can be charged with Focus points to deal additional effects.

Each stance has its own skill tree that can be leveled up to further the benefits of using a specific stance. Overall stances are situational, with each one having its own uses and players able to stick to just their favorite if they want to, much like Spirits. Here is how to unlock, change, and use each stance.

How To Unlock & Change Stances In Black Myth: Wukong

In the self-advance menu, the second option in Abilities will be the Staff Stances skill trees. The three main skill trees along the right side of the screen are the three stances, Smash, Pillar, and Thrust, with the Smash stance already being unlocked and equipped. Purchasing the first skill in the Pillar and Thrust trees will unlock the stance and let players switch to it anytime in combat, though the Thrust Stance will require level 20 which is easy to reach by defeating all the bosses in the Black Wind Mountain.

Investing Sparks in any skill in the Staff Stances trees will unlock additional focus points shown along the far left side of the screen.

In game, your currently equipped stance will be shown in the bottom right corner of the screen, along with your earned Focus points. Switching stances won't affect any earned Focus points, letting you use the best attack for whatever the moment calls for. On controller, switching your stance is done by pressing the corresponding arrow on the D-Pad. For those playing on mouse and keyboard, the corresponding button for each stance can be found in the skill tree and won't appear on screen.

This guide will make it easy for players find the three Meditation Spots that are within Black Myth: Wukong's Black Wind Mountain.

Each Stance's Heavy Attack

There are three stances that can be switched between, and doing so won't change your light attack. Your stance can be changed any time not in an attack animation, and doesn't have an in-game animation, letting you quickly shift stances before charging up your heavy attack. Upgrading stances may not increase your base damage like some pre-order items, but can help players be more effective in combat.

Stance Name

Heavy Attack

Smash Stance

Leap into the air and come crashing down with a powerful short-range attack.

Pillar Stance

Perch on top of your staff out of range of many weak melee attacks, before swinging with the extended staff for a long-range attack.

Thrust Stance

Stand still and charge up a powerful thrust that goes straight ahead for a long range.
