The Aether Blade has been a more tempting and sought-after easter egg featured in Reckoning in Black Ops 6 rather than the main easter egg quest itself, with thousands of players scouting in an attempt to find this elusive weapon. Worry no longer, for the Aether Blade easter egg has been solved, and players can find a walkthrough guide right here so that they can get the Aether Blade in Reckoning and lay waste to the endless hordes of zombies.
Acquiring the Aether Blade requires the Mister Peeks Field Upgrade, which is currently locked behind the 90s Action Heroes event coming on August 21.
How to Get the Aether Blade in Reckoning
Below are all the steps required to get the Aether Blade in Reckoning. Remember, you're going to need to bring the Mister Peeks Field Upgrade in order for the final step to trigger.
Step 1: Collect 3 Paintings and Place Them in the Director's Office
Once you have turned on Pack-a-Punch, you can begin collecting paintings that are found in specific locations around the map. There are 3 paintings in total, and they must be collected and placed one at a time:
- The first painting is found behind the left door in the T1 Project Janus Reception area, in the same room as the teleporter to Pack-a-Punch. This painting can be placed on the empty painting spot in T1 Director's Office, closest to The Arsenal.
- The next painting is located in the northeast corner of the T2 Sublevel 10, by the yellow railing of the Particle Accelerator that's closest to the crashed elevator. Players can put this painting beside the first one in T1 Director's Office, closest to the zombie barrier.
- The final painting is located in the T2 Android Assembly, behind a pillar with a bunch of wet floor signs in the room that has the Anti-Grav Personnel Launcher that takes you back to T1 Mutant Research. This painting can be placed in the T1 Director's Office, at the north wall.
Step 2: Find the Safe Key
For the next step, players are going to need an ARC-XD support item. The ARC-XD can be crafted at any Crafting Table for 1,000 Salvage. Luckily, there's a Crafting Table at T2 Dark Entity Containment, which is the same room players need to be in. Inside the T2 Dark Entity Containment, head downstairs and activate the ARC-XD. Drive it through the hole in the wall by the left stairs, and follow the path around the corner to find Dark Aether crystals. Detonate the ARC-XD, and then head back upstairs to the northeast side of the Forsaken's prison, where you can shoot a bunch of Dark Aether crystals. Upon shooting them all, the Safe Key item will spawn.
Step 3: Open the Safe with Mister Peeks
With the Safe Key acquired, head into the T1 Director's Office, where you will find a painting opposite the desk and closest to the portal that leads to Pack-a-Punch. With your Mister Peeks Field Upgrade, activate it at the painting, which will see the painting drop, and the safe reveal itself. Interact with the safe, and inside, players will be able to grab the Aether Blade for free.
How Does the Aether Blade Work?
The Aether Blade replaces your Lethal Equipment, and it provides players with an infinite-use item that can be repeatedly thrown. The Aether Blade is a throwing knife that seeks out zombies and kills 3 zombies per throw, regardless of their health and the Round. With just a 5-second cooldown between uses, the Aether Blade becomes a delightful piece of Lethal Equipment exclusive to Reckoning, and sadly, exclusive to one player, since only one person can grab this from the easter egg.
Players can duplicate the Aether Blade for their allies by using the Picky Eater minor augment on Vulture Aid. From here, throw the Aether Blade at a zombie, and it should drop for players to pick up.
