Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch Studios shows off two stunning Multiplayer maps set in Japan, which will be available in-game at launch.

Firing a Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Be Less Visually Chaotic

On Twitter, design director Matt Scronce revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will “drastically reduce” visual noise when players fire a weapon. In his responses, Scronce gives some examples of situations in which noise has been reduced, such as gun smoke and muzzle flash. Responding to a player about why this feature has been an issue for years despite community feedback, the developer says he “can only speak for Treyarch,” which has significantly reduced the noise from weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

According to Scronce, the issue is finding a balance between gameplay and visual appeal. For Black Ops 7, he notes that Treyarch is making this change to ensure that gameplay is the top priority at launch. Weapon visual noise has been a recurring complaint from the Call of Duty community, with special mentions of this issue occurring in 2022's Modern Warfare 2. With less visual noise from weapons in Black Ops 7, gamers who play Call of Duty with a keyboard and mouse, and cannot benefit from aim assist, are expected to have an easier time.

That is not the only change Scronce has revealed for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. In addition to less visual noise from weapons, the slots for the Dexterity, Scavenger, and Looper Perks have been changed from 1 to 3, 2 to 1, and 3 to 2, respectively. This change was based on feedback from Call of Duty League players, and will be available in the Black Ops 7 beta. The test period starts in early access on October 2 and will be expanded to all players on October 5.
