Summary

  • BlizzCon returns as an in-person event on September 12-13, 2026, after skipping 2024 and 2025.
  • A short trailer teases BlizzCon's return, reminiscent of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
  • Fans can expect World of Warcraft and Diablo-related reveals at BlizzCon 2026, following Warcraft-themed events in 2025.

On March 11, Blizzard shared a short trailer that confirmed BlizzCon, its longstanding convention, will return as an in-person event. However, Blizzard fans will have to wait a while for the next BlizzCon, as the company revealed that the convention will take place in September 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center, a departure from past events.

First held in 2005 following the launch of World of Warcraft, BlizzCon is held for fans of the Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and Overwatch franchises to come together and for Blizzard to announce new games and expansions on said series. At the previous BlizzCon in 2023, the opening ceremony was headlined by the reveal of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and World of Warcraft's Worldsoul Saga, starting with a first look at the War Within expansion. The Worldsoul Saga will continue with two more World of Warcraft expansions, Midnight and The Last Titan, which will roll out over the next few years.

Although Blizzard skipped holding BlizzCon in 2024 and 2025 due to ongoing game development taking priority, fans of the beloved convention will soon have cause to celebrate. Blizzard confirmed that BlizzCon will return on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the Anaheim Convention Center in southern California. In a departure from previous BlizzCons, the 2026 convention will be held in September for the first time, as past in-person events happened in August, October, or November.

When Is BlizzCon Coming Back?

  • The next BlizzCon will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12-13, 2026.

Blizzard shared the news with a short announcement trailer on social media. The trailer started with a frozen bed of ice that was struck by lightning from a swirling storm, reminiscent of the introduction trailer from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. The ice then formed the BlizzCon logo in the middle of the frozen waters, and the trailer ended with confirmation of when and where BlizzCon 2026 will happen.

While BlizzCon will not be held for over a year from the time of writing, fans will have smaller events in 2025. As part of the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise, Blizzard will hold six Warcraft-themed events across the globe through the first half of 2025. The first Warcraft World Tour events were held in London and Seoul on February 22 and March 8, and a Toronto gathering is coming up on March 15.

As for what BlizzCon 2026 could reveal, the conclusion of World of Warcraft's ongoing Worldsoul Saga and other surprises seem likely. Only time will tell when Blizzard will share more details about BlizzCon in the coming months.
