ArtPlay announced a new update for 2019's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which will be released on October 22, 2024. The version 1.6 update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will fix bugs and other issues. The new patch will also address a major crash issue related to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was originally released in 2019 following a successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign. It is produced by former Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi, and is a spiritual successor to Konami's franchise, taking cues from games like Symphony of the Night. The original launch of Ritual of the Night was somewhat rocky, especially on the Switch. Despite that, it still garnered praise and managed to sell over 2 million units by the end of September 2023.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's crossover with Shantae offers some notable gifts that differ from most finds in the castle.
Ritual of the Night's latest patch comes after May's version 1.5 update, which added new multiplayer modes and cosmetics. The version 1.6 update fixes a number of bugs and issues for all platforms, including a crash exclusive to the contentious Nintendo Switch port of Ritual of the Night. The update specifically fixes a softlock in the Store menu, slow loading in the game's Classic Mode, and the Glacial Tomb crash found in the Nintendo Switch version. All of these fixes will be coming to the game on October 22, 2024.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Getting New Update on October 22, 2024
The aforementioned issues were all things brought up by fans after the release of Ritual of the Night's Classic 2 mode DLC. The DLC makes its gameplay similar to Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and stars the exorcist NPC, Dominique Baldwin, as the playable character. Once these problems came up, the official social media account and development team apologized to fans, stating that they would address these problems as soon as possible. Fans will finally see these issues addressed in version 1.6.
While Ritual of the Night has been getting plenty of updates in the past five years and got its final content update in 2024, ArtPlay is also working on a sequel. Bloodstained 2's director recently had to step away from its development due to health issues. Both the fans and Koji Igarashi wished director Shutaro Ida a swift recovery. Ida had previously worked with Igarashi on Castlevania games, specifically those on the Nintendo DS like Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia, and he was also the lead programmer on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
