There is not enough cash to have a favorite tower if that tower isn't also one of the best. When the going gets hard, these are the towers that have the best return on investment when it comes to popping the toughest balloons.

As such, the costs of different monkeys remain in flux, and which towers are the best to use also shifts over time. Fans and long-time players will know that between nerfs and buffs shifting with each update, as with many strategy games, balance has always been an important aim and the quest to work towards it has been ongoing in Bloons for many years. While there may not be an answer as to which tower is the very best across all game modes, there are some that clearly outpace the others in range and impressive nature of capability.

18 Boomerang Monkey

Hefty Strikes Within Close Range

The Boomerang Monkey is one of the oldest monkeys in the Bloons Tower Defence series. Although they have been around for a long time, they still don't get the sort of praise they deserve for being great in the early game, partially this is because they can't be made to hit camo bloons until the very top upgrades.

Still though, Boomerang Monkeys can hit lead bloons early in the game, they have strong pierce for such a basic monkey, and they are great even in the mid-to-late game for fleshing out the herd when heavy waves of bloons come in, particularly in large stacks. The Dartling Gunner is a legacy tower that has appeared in several Bloons TD games in the past. However, he has become more useful than ever since players are now able to choose a target spot for him on the map, making him much less irritating to use. A well-placed Dartling Gunner can hit across several parts of the track, his whole-map range making for a special sort of tower that can't be matched if upgraded well.

Dartlings have laser beam options on the top path, which can melt through bloons at incredible rates; or, the middle path includes the powerful MAD, which shoots huge rockets specially designed for MOAB-class bloons. This middle path is therefore a great choice for late-game rounds when MOABs are in great supply and need to be cracked open quickly.

16 Glue Gunner

Slowing Down Everything In Sight

The Glue Gunner is an option that has been around for many Bloons TD games. Slowing down bloons and giving other towers the chance to take them out is an important role for the Glue Gunner to play. But more than this, he can also damage himself via the top path, which contains the Bloon Dissolver. Melting through a number of bloons at rapid rates can be absolutely devastating for ceramic rushes.

In addition to this, the Glue Gunner can attack a huge number of bloons with the middle path, creating glue storms that can be hugely helpful in the right situations. But the best late-game help is found on the bottom path, which includes MOAB Glue and gives a huge boost in the late-game when players are struggling to catch such a huge number of MOAB-class bloons.

15 Banana Farm

The Money-Making Hack

This would probably be near the top of the list if it weren't for the modes that disabled the Banana Farm. Why is it disabled? Because the extra cash it provides is out of control. Many upgrades aren't affordable without a few of these planted toward the middle rounds.

If it seems like too much hassle, players can feel free to select the upgrades that automatically collect the bananas for them. About four or five of these are plenty for gamers to build whatever they want in 80 to 100-round matches. Players sometimes debate over which path is the best for the Banana Farm because they're all great.

14 Sniper Monkey

Extremely Accurate

The Monkey Sniper seems like a simple and straightforward sort of tower. And it is, to a certain extent, but the usefulness of a monkey that never misses is massive. Monkey Snipers start out popping two layers of a bloon with each shot, and players can speed their shots, make them ricochet, or make them go through a hefty number of layers.

Although the sniper's speed can be an issue as the rounds ramp up, the Elite Sniper upgrade can hit with incredible speed, and he gets faster the further along the track the bloons get. Cripple MOAB is an option for players looking to take down the biggest bloons with a single accurate monkey.

13 Wizard Monkey

Good For Everything

The Wizard Monkey checks a lot of boxes for what makes a tower "good." It's got nice damage and range as well as some damage over time abilities that help take down tough targets. So, what is it doing on a list of the best towers?

The Wizard Monkey can resurrect balloons and send these new "zombie" allies backward toward oncoming traffic. When the waves start to get denser, this increases the Wizard Monkey's usefulness, giving him a limitless stream of balloons to send back at the enemies.

12 Super Monkey

The Classic High-Level Warrior

• Best Upgrade: True Sun God

When the higher difficulties try to cram through a bunch of balloons all at once, gamers can be left feeling hopeless in the face of such an onslaught. They'll need something amazing to drive back the waves. Vital monkey knowledge can help, but nothing substitutes for what the Super Monkey can do.

This is where the Super Monkey's knockback ability and laser blasts shine. By sending balloons back, damage towers are given more time to do the work they need to do to take out the waves. The area attack means that the Super Monkey himself is unaffected by these clusters.

11 Monkey Village

Buffs All Other Towers

• Can Absorb Farms And Become A Monkeyopolis

• Best Upgrade: Monkeyopolis

Many monkey towers are fantastic but have the weakness of not being able to target camouflage or lead balloons. It's a serious drawback until players get the Monkey Intelligence Bureau upgrade for the Monkey Village, which grants all towers in its range the ability to attack anything. Many monkey towers are overrated because they can hit camouflaged balloons. With just one tower, players get all that power and more for all of their towers.

As a support structure, it's got more to offer. The bottom track gives players a boost to their economy, and the top track juices up monkeys in range with extra attack speed. Any build that doesn't utilize this tower should be met with some skepticism. Used correctly, this can give players tons of experience as they clear maps with ease.

10 Monkey Sub

The Water-Based Destroyer

There are only a very few towers in Bloons TD6 that can be placed in water. With some maps being mostly made of water, these are incredibly important on certain occasions. However, the Monkey Sub can be incredibly helpful on all sorts of maps, due to their ability to strike anywhere on the map from the water.

While it takes the Advanced Intel upgrade to gain this power, it is well worth it, and then players can have their sub throw a huge number of darts or missiles at bloons around the map. This constant surge of attack, able to strike anywhere, cannot be overrated.

9 Heli Pilot

Constant Attacking Threat

• Can Be Directed In Many Ways
• Cost On Hard: 1730
• Best Upgrade: Pursuit

Thanks to being able to fly around with the top upgrade path, there is no map in which the Heli Pilot isn't useful. On several awesome maps that have changing courses, spawn points, and exits, the Heli Pilot goes from a good idea to an absolute must-have.

Being in the face of every balloon as soon as it spawns yields an advantage to gamers regardless of who their main damage dealers are. Even if it isn't the Heli Pilot, he's the best at softening up the wave before it gets to the other towers.
