In the Library of the Blue Prince house, there are several different books you can check out and study to get clues to the mysteries around the house. Not only that, but you can also purchase new books for your Library in the Book Store.

One of the books you can check out is called "A New Clue," and your (in-game) mother wrote it. If you pick this book up from the Library in Blue Prince, you will discover that it has a lot of secrets inside. The hardest of them to solve is probably the Anagram puzzle, but if you're struggling with it, this guide is here to help.

How to Solve the Anagram Puzzle from A New Clue in Blue Prince

After you rent "A New Clue" from the Library room in Blue Prince, you'll notice that one of the pages has a few lines about changing "all the letters in the lines he found." The artwork on that page shows you that the book's main character is rearranging words to make new ones: "Draft the Sixes" becomes "Shifted Extras" and "The Fixed Stars." This is the first hint indicating that you will also need to rearrange some words for yourself.

On the tenth set of pages you can flip to, on page 19, there will be a purple book open to a page that the main character has annotated. It shows the eleventh page of "A New Clue," which has the same four lines of the book written on it.

"So tome after tome that the library loaned,

And the books that he had already owned,

Were searched from their covers all the way through,

If he found a new clue, he'd know what to do."

The word "library" is circled, the word "covers" is underlined, and "the way" has a square drawn around it. "The way" leads to a note that says: X -> Y -> Z -> A -> B -> C. The word "covers" leads to these handwritten notes:

  • "Assume page count starts on the cover page."
  • Red: Page A, Word X
  • Green: Page C, Word A
  • Violet: Page B, Word Y
  • Blue: Page Z, Word X

If you flip back to the page shown here, page 11, you will see a small stack of books in the same order as listed above.

  • Red: Tender Cipher
  • Green: Lunar Renamed
  • Violet: Uncle Awe
  • Blue: Draft the Sixes

Unscrambled Book Titles from A New Clue in Blue Prince

The answers to these four scrambled-up book titles all match up with books you can rent from the Library, just like it does when the book unscrambles "Draft the Sixes" to get "The Fixed Stars," which is one of the books you can get in the Library. Once you rearrange them, you will get:

  • Tender Cipher: The Red Prince
  • Lunar Renamed: Realm and Rune
  • Uncle Awe: A New Clue
  • Draft the Sixes: The Fixed Stars

Now that you know which books you need to look at, you need to figure out which words and pages to look at in each of those books.

The Metro Map in Blue Prince

Underneath the marked "A New Clue" book in "A New Clue," there is a picture of the Metro Map that can be found in the Safehouse in the Reservoir in Blue Prince. "Dead End," which is in one of the notes on the same table, is said to equal the letter C, as shown below. The note right above that note asks if you have seen all the signs, referring to all the signs in the book. If you flip through the pages again, you will see them in this order:

  • Route 8
  • Depart
  • Keep Left
  • To Tanner Fork
  • “Right Turn”
  • Dead End
  • Record
  • Each
  • Stop
  • On The Way

If you follow the directions of the signs, you will find that marking the route will give you six stops. The first stop, which will correspond to the X in "the way" from the book, is The Royal Station, marked as an 8 on the Metro Map. If you map out the whole route, you will get:

  • X: The Royal Station (8)
  • Y: Angel Tower (7)
  • Z: Aries Crossing (3)
  • A: Tanner Fork (10)
  • B: Oris Train Hall (1)
  • C: Dead End (13)

If you have done it correctly, it will match the doodle that Mary holds up in the security footage in Blue Prince. Here is how all those shake out once you put the numbers in the right place:

  • Red: Page A, Word X = The Red Prince: Page 10, Word 8
  • Green: Page C, Word A = Realm and Rune: Page 13, Word 10
  • Violet: Page B, Word Y = A New Clue: Page 1, Word 7
  • Blue: Page Z, Word X = The Fixed Stars: Page 3, Word 8

The four words from each of those books spell out the sentence "Turn Scorched Sundial Base."

How to Turn the Scorched Sundial Base in Blue Prince

There is only one location where you can find a sundial in the game: the Apple Orchard. You need to scorch the sundial, and there are two items in Blue Prince that can burn things: the Burning Glass or the Igniting Torch.

After getting the Burning Glass or the Igniting Torch, you need to take one of these items to the Sundial in the Apple Orchard. Burn the bottom of the Sundial twice, then turn the base. Then, you must grab the Microchips from Blue Prince and put them inside.
