Although mostly about gameplay mechanics and puzzle solutions, there is more to Blue Prince than first meets the eye. The lore of the world is quite in-depth, and can be gleaned from the different cutscenes, notes, letters, and environmental hints found within the manor.
It is quite easy to miss a cutscene, but thankfully, there is an in-game way to rewatch them through the security room terminal. You’ll also discover some never-before-seen footage for some additional lore along the way as well.
Blue Prince: All Red Rooms & Their Effects
Red Rooms in Blue Prince have harmful effects that can ruin your run, but some can also be useful. Here's a rundown on what each of them does.
How to Find the Secret Code for the Security Room Terminal in Blue Prince
There are two main hints that the player can find in the manor that will point them in the right direction. The first one is a secret note found in the Attic, and the second one is another note found in the Reservoir. Combined, these two give the player the right tools to crack the code.
- Hint 1: The footage playing on the security room screens holds a secret for you to decode.
- Hint 2: Only consider the 11 screens playing in the middle of the security room desk.
- Hint 3: Try spelling out the first letters of all the rooms playing in the middle screens and using that as the terminal password.
The answer you’re looking for is “swansonghss.” This is similar to the passcode for normal employees that you can decipher from the memo in the security room, just with a few additional letters. HSS is an acronym for your dead uncle and the former owner of the mansion, Herbert S. Sinclair. It is also an acronym for “Home Security Surveillance,” which is the menu you will open after you input the code.
Blue Prince: All Contraption Interactions
There are eight total contraptions you can make in the puzzle game Blue Prince, and some of them can alter things in your runs permanently.
How to Watch Cutscenes and Security Footage in Blue Prince
To watch old cutscenes and new security footage, players need to enter a secret code, “swansonghss,” into the Security Room terminal. This will give you access to the security footage archive, which contains footage from different years.
Unfortunately, most of the footage is corrupted. The oldest year, 1987, has unseen CCTV footage from a few different locations, like the library and the security room, which offers some additional lore to the player. To view the cutscenes that you’ve already encountered and want to rewatch, such as the cutscenes from the Rumpus Room, you need to navigate to the latest year, 1993. Here you can see a selection of all the cutscenes you’ve encountered in the manor.
