A roguelike puzzle game in an escape room-esque setting, Blue Prince is a great game to sink a couple of hours into without feeling the time passing at all. You’re likely to get sucked into the gameplay loop and not even realize when half the day has passed.
The game features many puzzles dispersed over different rooms, and one of the tougher ones is the Utility Closet Circuit Breaker puzzle, which requires the player to mess with the v.a.c. Indicators.
How to Use the Utility Closet in Blue Prince
The Utility Closet has a couple of different features that can be quite useful for the player. Firstly, players can directly disable or enable the Keycard Entry System. If you don’t have a keycard, disabling this system will let you go through doors that were closed before.
Secondly, you can take away or give power to three rooms, i.e., the Gymnasium, Dark Room, and Garage. In general, you’ll want to take power away from the Gymnasium, and give power to the Dark Room and Garage. Even after you’ve unlocked the West Side gate, it can be useful to power the garage to get a shortcut between the Garage and the main hall.
Circuit Breaker Puzzle Hints
To get the hints for the Circuit Breaker puzzle, players need to access the terminal using the password found in a memo in the Security Room. From there, go to the electronic mail section and open the two emails titled RE: fusebox repair and RE: RE: fusebox repair.
Through these two emails, players will find two key pieces of information required to complete the puzzle.
- Hint 1: First, the lights only turn white when all the indicators are purple.
- Hint 2: Secondly, the correct sequence of v.a.c. Is [off] [blue] [green] [white] [red] [purple].
- Rules for the v.a.c. Indicators: Pressing the indicator once turns it green, twice turns it red, and three times turns it blue. Clicking a blue button turns the adjacent red indicators purple, and clicking a purple indicator turns it blue.

Reward for Completing the Circuit Breaker Puzzle
After you complete the v.a.c. Puzzle, the wall behind the utility closet will start rising, revealing a hidden room with a large switch inside. Flip the switch to permanently unlock the Gemstone Cavern near your campsite, which will give the player 2 gems at the start of each day.
The extra gems are very useful for the player at the early stage. Gems are used to draft specific rooms, which are usually quite powerful compared to non-gem rooms. Having a few from the start widens the possibilities for the player and makes the game less frustrating.
