A new Blue Prince update is now available, following a staggered release that was carried out in late April 2025. Identified by version number 1.03, this patch introduces several bug fixes and a temporary menu change stemming from a Blue Prince issue that has yet to be fixed.
Originally released on April 10, Blue Prince is currently one of the best-reviewed games of 2025, boasting an OpenCritic average of 89, which puts it only behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Split Fiction, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The game received widespread praise for its unique blend of exploration, puzzle-solving, and roguelike elements, woven into a cohesive whole through a compelling story about reaching the elusive Room 46 in a magical mansion with an ever-shifting layout. While Blue Prince was free of major technical issues from day one, early adopters still identified some bugs that developer Dogubomb immediately started fixing.
What Blue Prince's Critical Acclaim Could Mean for Future PS Plus Releases
Blue Prince’s PS Plus debut could mark a turning point, showing Sony may be ready to treat top-tier indies as headline acts, not just filler content.
As part of these ongoing efforts, the critically acclaimed title has recently received its third update, bumping its version number up to 1.03. The new patch fixes several bugs, the most significant of which messed with the game's save system, occasionally causing Blue Prince players to lose up to several in-game days of progress. Dogubomb identified its internal save file backup system as the root cause of the issue, albeit without elaborating on what exactly the faulty utility was doing wrong. For the time being, the backup system has been disabled in order to eliminate the chances of these progression-loss scenarios. Whether it'll return in the future remains to be seen.
The new update also disables another feature, the auto-playing main menu credits listing the Blue Prince development team. This change also stems from a bug that would cause issues if the "Continue" option was clicked or selected within the first few frames of the credits starting to roll. Unlike the file backup system, this particular feature removal has already been confirmed as a temporary measure, implemented only while Dogubomb investigates and implements a permanent fix.
The new Blue Prince update also addresses some typos, as well as a late-game bug that could have potentially locked players out of a certain area in some edge-case scenarios. PC players were the first to receive the patch, which reached Steam on Thursday, April 24. Since then, the update has also been rolled out to the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus versions of Blue Prince have been patched as well.
