The Face-Puncher is a fairly unique weapon in Borderlands 3. While a shotgun by design, its pellets do melee damage. The legendary gains all melee bonuses from all sources to increase its damage output. Hence, the Face-Puncher only proves efficient with a melee build in BL3. Your damage output will significantly be reduced on any other (non-melee) build.

Many players tend to make light of the Face-Puncher. It can feel a bit underwhelming at the start, even with melee builds. However, once your vault hunter starts leveling up and gains better items, the improved melee bonuses let you hit enemies from range like a truck.

In addition to Eridium Shards, you can redeem items called Loot-O-Grams for random weapons and items in Borderlands 3. Here's how to farm them.

Borderlands 3 - Face-Puncher Stats
The legendary Face-Puncher shotgun extends your melee attacks in Borderlands 3.

The Face-Puncher is another world drop that can be looted by beating enemies and bosses, opening chests, playing slot and vending machines, completing challenges, and redeeming Eridium Shards at Crazy Earl. With over 150 unique items in Borderlands 3, however, you have no choice but to rely on RNG for the legendary shotgun to drop from any of the dedicated loot sources. The drop chance for each legendary is small and evenly split. Hence, be ready to spend a lot of time farming.

You will come across several items that increase your legendary drop chances in BL3. Save them for your farming runs. While not efficient for your overall build, late-game farming with items such as a Shlooter artifact or an All-In shield can boost your legendary drop chances by over 1,000 percent.

Thankfully, one particular enemy in Borderlands 3 has a higher chance of dropping the Face-Puncher shotgun. Muldock, the Anointed, is one of the several bosses you encounter during the main campaign. He has a 15 percent chance of dropping the Face-Puncher in BL3. If you want to save yourself from a gruesome grind, equip a legendary drop booster and farm Muldock a few times until he drops the weapon.

Where To Find Muldock In Borderlands 3?

Muldock can be found inside Fort Sunshine, located north of the Floodmoor Basin on Eden-6 in Borderlands 3. There are several fast-travel points in the zone with nearby Catch-a-Rides to help you get there quickly.

Borderlands 3 - Muldock Map Location
Muldock can be farmed for a chance to loot the Face-Puncher.

Your first encounter with Muldock will be during the Guns of Reliance quest, where you attack the prison to free the rebels at the request of Wainwright Jakobs. Borderlands 3's Troy Calypso twin will teleport Muldock for a fight at the end, after which you only need to reload and visit the Fort Sunshine prison to face Muldock again as a respawnable boss.

Muldock is a human mutant with a level 27 requirement. He should not be a difficult boss fight as long as you meet the level requirements. If you really want to cut the fight short, use an incendiary weapon such as the Doom Hellwalker shotgun. They work best against flesh enemies.

Muldock also has a high chance of dropping the legendary Rectifier shield in BL3 which boosts your shock resistance. In addition, you electrocute nearby enemies whenever the shield depletes.
