Dahl, the multi-conglomerate mercenary corporation, returns in Borderlands 3 to equip vault hunters with the best weapons money can buy. Featuring a long line of products, Dahl loyalists (and would-be adventurers joining after watching the Borderlands movie) will particularly be interested in the legendary Breath of the Dying assault rifle.
It shoots corrosive bullets with a zero percent status effect chance, meaning enemies will not be dealt a melt status effect. However, every kill with the assault rifle spawns a ring of 13 orbs that fly in all directions to deal corrosive splash damage. Perfect for Mayhem 10 mode, and especially designed to dominate in small enclosures, here is how to get the Breath of the Dying in Borderlands 3.
The Breath of the Dying is part of the base game. You do not need to purchase any of the DLC packs for Borderlands 3.
Hardest Borderlands Games, Ranked
The Borderlands games are some of the best looter-shooters ever made. Whether playing solo or with friends they can challenge even seasoned gamers.
Best Way to Farm the Breath of the Dying in Borderlands 3
Breath of the Dying is part of the world drop pool, meaning that the legendary weapon has a small chance to drop from any dedicated loot source in Borderlands 3. These sources include chests, vending machines, slot machines, challenges, enemies, etc.
Chances are that the weapon randomly drops for you while playing the game. If not, however, you will be glad to know that one particular enemy has a higher chance of dropping the Breath of the Dying than all the other loot sources.
Borderlands 3 has several items that increase your legendary drop chances. For example, the Shlooter artifact increases your legendary drop chances by a massive 2,000 percent on every kill. This buff, however, only lasts for 12 seconds.
As another example, the All-in shield has a 15 percent chance to drop a Luck Booster to boost your legendary chances by 1,000 percent for 15 seconds. Always equip them when farming for legendary drops.
The Blinding Banshee is a mini-boss that is an excellent legendary farming location for the Breath of the Dying in Borderlands 3. She is a unique Mantakore that can be found on Nekrotafeyo. Head to the northern part of Desolation's Edge as marked on the map below to encounter her behind a small walled-off area. The closest fast travel points (encircled) are pretty far in the southeast and the westernmost parts of Desolation's Edge. Luckily, several Catch-a-Ride points are nearby to help you traverse the terrain faster.
The Blinding Banshee has a 10% chance of dropping the legendary Breath of the Dying assault rifle in Borderlands 3. She can also drop the legendary Red Queen grenade mod and the unique Shrieking Devil shotgun, which are equally excellent to equip for your vault hunter's overpowered build. Note that the Blinding Banshee is a respawnable boss. You will be farming her a lot of times to get all of her legendary drops.
Choose your elements carefully. Refrain from using the Breath of the Dying on frozen enemies because their hit-boxes cause the orbs to immediately explode.
