Borderlands 3 would not be one of the best looter shooters in the market if there were no way to increase your inventory space. With dozens of items piling up during every mission, you will quickly realize the importance of having a larger backpack with more slots to horde as much as possible. That is how you make money fast in BL3. The more storage space you have, the more items you can loot in the game to sell later.
Borderlands 3: How to Recover Corrupted Character Saves
Left with a corrupted save file after a power-cut? Worry not. Here's how to recover your character in Borderlands 3.
How to Increase Your Inventory Space in Borderlands 3
Borderlands 3 features two ways to store items. You have your main inventory backpack which can be accessed at any point in the game. You also have your bank as a secondary storage space, but it can only be accessed aboard the Sanctuary III starship.
The Bank is a shared storage space that can be accessed by all characters on the same BL3 account. Hence, you can always carry over legendary items best used by another character, or if you plan to create a new vault hunter.
Both the backpack and the bank start with 16 and 20 slots respectively by default, which is surely not enough for a game like Borderlands 3. They can be upgraded to increase their inventory slots by visiting Marcus' Munitions on the upper level of Sanctuary III. Head straight from the fast-travel point and take the first right. Go past the Golden Chest to find Marcus' Munitions store on your right.
Marcus' Munitions does not become available until about 3 hours into the main storyline. Your default storage space will make do until Sanctuary III lifts off. Once you beat Borderlands 3, you can create a max-level character that skips the tutorial.
Marcus sells a variety of Storage Deck Upgrades (SDUs) in Borderlands 3, or as he calls them, "Super Duper Useful" upgrades. Each SDU can be purchased 13 times to increase the amount of loot and ammo you can carry.
While the first few upgrades are fairly cheap, the latter SDUs are pretty expensive. You will be spending over $10 million just to unlock the last few SDUs. They will burn a hole in your wallet but are worth it for the extra loot and ammo storage space in BL3.

What Is Max Level in Borderlands 3?
Wondering how many levels you can obtain to max out skill trees in Borderlands 3? Here's what you need to know about the game's progression.
Marcus' Munitions is the only one who sells SDUs in Borderlands 3. Crazy Earl used to sell them in previous installments. Claptrap also had side missions that rewarded SDUs. Crazy Earl has since then moved on to only accepting Eridium for weapons and cosmetics. Claptrap, on the other hand, is busy figuring out how to climb stairs.
Other Ways to Increase Storage Space
You can create multiple characters to use as mules in BL3. Unfortunately, your Backpack SDUs are not shared between all characters. However, once you start playing Mayhem modes, you will farm millions of in-game dollars within a few gameplay sessions.
That money can be used to buy Backpack SDUs for your mule characters to increase their inventory space. You can then store over 50 legendary items in their backpacks. Hence, 10 mule characters become over 500 inventory slots.
Remember that your friends can donate their extra cash to help you buy Backpack SDUs for your new characters. If you are a loner, jump into the matchmaking mode for co-op sessions. It is not uncommon to find rich players with billions of dollars in their accounts. You can even create a party to farm Mayhem bosses for end-game content. However, make sure to have a suitable co-op party setup for the best damage output in Borderlands 3.
