There are over 18 Firmware sets in Borderlands 4, and each of these pieces of equipment will offer players new ways to min-max their build for the endgame. Firmware will only drop on equipment gear, not on weapons, meaning players will have to look to Ordnance, Rep-Kits, Shields, Class Mods, and Enhancements to reap these benefits. Each Firmware provides a passive upgrade to a player's stats, but having more than one of the same Firmware provides additional bonuses. Below, players can check out every Firmware in Borderlands 4, along with their 3 equipped set bonuses.

How to Equip More Firmware Bonuses in Borderlands 4

firmware upgrades

Once players have completed the campaign for Borderlands 4, they will be able to access Zane's Transfer Machine, which is located within any of the Faction Towns in Kairos. Zane's Transfer Machine allows players to place a piece of equipment that has the Firmware they want onto a piece of Gear that they want to use. That means that whatever is placed in the Firmware slot is lost, and whatever is placed in the Gear slot will absorb that Firmware. This means that players can complete a set bonus by having 3 items with the same Firmware, but the Firmware has to come from the same type. This means that players cannot put a Firmware on an Ordnance onto a Repkit, and so on.
