Borderlands 4 Vex players rejoice, because Gearbox just delayed the inevitable infinite bleed nerf that was originally expected to drop today. Gearbox never outright confirmed that the infamous build would be nerfed in the next update, but a statement made in the Borderlands 4 patch notes for October 9 suggested as much. Just ahead of the change list in the last patch, Gearbox stated, "We will also address unintended interactions in certain Vault Hunter skills, and make adjustments to overperforming gear," which many fans took as a sign that Vex's infamous reign would be coming to an end.
Of course, not every Borderlands 4 player has Vex as their main, so the delay might not be the best news for those awaiting balance adjustments for their favorite Vault Hunters. As last week's patch notes mentioned, the update was also expected to focus on "Class Mods, Repkits, Shields, and Firmware being tuned to provide greater viability for melee builds, and account for deficiencies in other specific Vault Hunter builds." Finally, some highly requested stability, performance, and quality-of-life changes were expected to arrive as well, all in all making the delay a bit of a double-edged sword for Borderlands 4.
Borderlands 4 Vex Players Have a Few More Days With Her Infinite Bleed Build
What has made Vex's infinite bleed build so popular in Borderlands 4 is just how overpowered it is. Essentially, it effectively enables an infinite damage loop using her Bloodletter skill, a Throwing Knife with a Penetrator Augment to trigger critical shots and bleed, and her Contamination Skill to make the loop even more effective. It is an exploit that has been used by many Vex players in Borderlands 4 for some time now, and the build has become so infamous that it has understandably been considered a target for a nerf.
It's currently unclear when the presumed Vex-killing Borderlands 4 update will arrive, as Gearbox merely confirmed that it will be hitting the game "early next week." Historically, these patches have been implemented on Thursday, but the developer's comments suggest this particular update could arrive on either Monday or Tuesday next week instead.
At the very least, however, it means Vex players can continue to enjoy her infinite bleed build over the weekend. It is worth mentioning that even though the next update is delayed, Borderlands 4's new Weekly Activities will still roll out today, giving players something fresh while they wait.
