When a man falls from the sky, it's only natural for a Vault Hunter to investigate. As Borderlands 4 players discover an ECHO Log detailing the location of Francis Oddman and his promise to find paradise off of Kairos, curiosity can win them over and see them venture to Deep Seven, an Order Silo located in the Fadefields. The side mission featured with Exit Through the Rift Shop is rather simple to complete, but players are left with a dilemma at the end: punch Francis Oddman, or shoot Francis Oddman? Below, we've outlined both outcomes and which one you should pick.

Should You Punch or Shoot Francis Oddman?

punch or shoot francis oddman

After players manage to escape the rift and return to Francis Oddman, they will be tasked with putting a stop to his experiments for good. It turns out Francis Oddman was a scientist working for the Order and had been using the innocent people of Kairos for his experiments, teleporting them through rifts over and over again until he found paradise. It turns out that Oddman really is an odd man, since his version of paradise is a land full of sentient lizard overlords. At this point, players can confront Oddman, and they are presented with a choice to punch him or shoot him. Here are the outcomes of both:

  • Punch Francis Oddman - Oddman falls through a rift and disappears, potentially to be seen again.
  • Shoot Francis Oddman - Oddman is shot and killed, slumped over, and never falls in the rift.

We decided to Punch Francis Oddman, as although it might make more moral sense to shoot him, there is a trophy titled "Rift Incompatible" which requires players to find Oddman's final resting place. This trophy can only be earned if players punch Francis Oddman.

Where to Find Oddman's Final Resting Place

After punching Oddman in Exit Through the Rift Shop, players can travel to the location listed above to find Oddman's frozen corpse. When players approach, they will be awarded with the achievement. The location can be found as soon as you complete the side quest, and it's just north of The Nightcap Safehouse, in Windspear, Terminus Range.
