Easter eggs and pop culture references can be found in every Borderlands game, and Borderlands 4 features versions of Shrek and Donkey from the popular animated Dreamworks films as unique enemies. The Borderlands 4 Shrek easter egg can be found pretty early in the game, too.
You can wander into Shrek's swamp as soon as you complete the prologue thanks to Borderlands 4's new open-world layout. There aren't any cool weapons to farm, but there is an important collectible guarded by the green ogre. Here's where you can find Shrek and Donkey in Borderlands 4.
How to Farm Legendaries in Borderlands 4
Legendary items are extremely valuable in Borderlands 4, and if you're having trouble getting some, try these spots out.
How to Find the Shrek Easter Egg in Borderlands 4
The Borderlands 4 Shrek Easter egg is located in Mirehome, a point of interest near Fortress Indomita and the Wyclef's Reprieve safe house in Idolator's Noose on the southern edge of the map. It's in the Fadefields (the starting region of the game), so you shouldn't encounter a ton of enemy resistance on the way.
Once you reach Mirehome, you'll see a small path littered with 'keep out' signs. Ignore those and follow the path to reach a secluded area where you'll be attacked by a giant green ogre named Wreck. He's armed with corrosive weaponry and can pull you in with a hook attack, so keep your distance.
Once you defeat Wreck, you'll meet his partner-in-crime, Burro. Neither Wreck nor Burro have any dedicated boss drops, so this is a one-and-done encounter that you don't need to farm.
After you've cleared the swamp, you can collect the Till Death Do Us Part ECHO Log on the body behind Wreck. This is just one of many Fadefields ECHO Logs that you'll need to collect if you want to 100% complete Borderlands 4. Give it a listen, then turn back around to exit the swamp.
There aren't any side quests tied to this Easter egg or anything like that, so there's no reason to return to Mirehome unless you want to show Wreck and Burro to friends. There is an Order Bunker nearby, however, and you can find some seriously sweet gear inside. These are some of the best ways to get the strongest legendary Borderlands 4 weapons to drop.
