One of the best Legendary grenades in Borderlands 4 is a literal fish that players can throw at their enemies, and Slippy has a dedicated boss that drops it, along with another rather wet method listed below. Whether players want to farm Slippy from the dedicated boss loot drops or from the humbling fishing minigame, we've provided both of them below so that you know exactly where to go to get Slippy in your inventory.
How to Get the Slippy Grenade in Borderlands 4
Slippy drops from Shadowpelt, the boss found at the end of the Whistler's Maw Auger Mine in Cuspid Climb, Terminus Range.
Auger Mines are unlocked after completing the Shadow of the Mountain main quest.
The Whistler's Maw Auger Mine is filled with Manglers, making it the perfect place to clean up any bounties you may have collected from your last safe house visit. You'll want to bring some Incendiary weapons to make quick work of the Manglers, who all have Flesh healthbars. It's also advised to bring Shock, as Shadowpelt's protective Shield can be quite the nuisance.
The Shadowpelt boss fight can be quite challenging, as once he regains his Shield, he will become invisible, and players must destroy it again to make Shadowpelt reappear. With leaping attacks and Shock area of effect attacks, Shadowpelt will keep you awlays on the move, so play agressive by erasing his Shield so you always know where he ends up, and then chip away at his Flesh bar with Incendiary.
As long as you keep moving and keep your eyes laser-focused on Shadowpelt, you should be able to take this boss down fairly easily with decent equipment. There are plenty of smaller Manglers that continually spawn throughout the encounter as well, and you can use them to revive yourself if you get downed. Slippy is one of three items in Shadowpelt's loot pool, alongside the Eviscerating Vamoose Sniper and the Sparky Shield.
How to Get Slippy From Fishing in Borderlands 4
Another way to get Slippy is from fishing, and all you have to do is find a fishing spot and try to yank it out of the water. Slippy is a very rare drop from this method,so it'll take a few tries before you get it to show up.Fishing doesn't require any specific weapons, and there aren't any level requirements, either. You can start farming for Slippy as soon as you complete the prologue and enter the open world of Kairos. The best place to farm for Slippy is the aptly-named Fishin' Spot in the Coastal Bonescape. You'll likely pass by this giant pond within the first few hours of the main story.
There are several fishing spots around this pond where you can pull things out of the water. If you don't catch Slippy, you can just fast travel away to reset the fishing spots and try again, or quit to the main menu and reload a save. You can find splashes in the water, and then yank them out with the grapple hook in the hopes of claiming loot!
How Does the Slippy Fish Grenade Work?
Slippy is useful due to its strength, as this Legendary has a gimmick that sees it deal Melee Damage instead of Ordnance Damage. Even if you're not focusing on melee damage, Slippy is still one of the strongest grenades in the game based on its raw damage output alone. It has a massive explosion radius, and it splits into multiple projectiles after the initial detonation. It'll make quick work of anything you throw it at.
