The most recent Borderlands 4 update accidentally broke a very popular quality-of-life feature, but Gearbox has confirmed a fix is on the way. This Borderlands 4 feature made farming Legendaries much easier, so some players were frustrated to see it removed.
Most players will farm Borderlands 4 Legendaries via Moxxi's Big Encore, which allows the instant respawn of bosses for a small price. Players aim to do this as quickly as possible. To aid with this, gamers could previously reset their Vault Hunter's skill cooldowns by opening up a vendor, which are available at all Moxxi's Big Encore boss locations. This changed in the recent Borderlands 4 update, and efficient Legendary farmers noticed the issue almost immediately.
Borderlands 4 is Fixing Vendor Skill Cooldown Reset
According to associate creative director Grant Kao, the lack of skill cooldown reset post-Borderlands 4 update is unintentional, caused by "a fix to another bug related to camera movements." He also confirmed that "we're going to add the cooldown reset back," immediately calming all player concerns. It's cool that even if the skill reset is something of a trick, Gearbox recognizes how important it has become to those farming Legendary weapons.
Exactly when this will be fixed remains to be seen, but it shouldn't take too long for Gearbox to re-add the vendor skill cooldown reset. These popular quality-of-life changes have been something of a priority for Gearbox at the moment. The most recent Borderlands 4 patch made some important quality-of-life additions that should make the game a much better experience all around. Long may it continue.
However, not every nerf from Gearbox is unintentional of late. As the developer tries to perfectly balance the game, the nerf of Vex's crit knife build in Borderlands 4 has caused some controversy. While some players want to be able to have such a power trip build in the game, others don't want the ability to trivialize even its toughest bosses. As the accidental changes to the vendor skill cooldown show, Gearbox is always open to feedback and is ready to make swift changes where necessary.
