Gearbox Software has been periodically releasing new SHiFT codes ever since launching its digital platform in 2012. In recent years, most such freebies were available across every mainline game in the Borderlands franchise, and even a few spin-offs. But with Borderlands 4 now out, Gearbox treated it to several exclusive offers in mid-September 2025.

New SHiFT Code Spotted in Borderlands 4
Continuing this trend, a new SHiFT code has just been found in the game's credits, as first reported by Reddit user NoGonzo shortly following Borderlands 4's September 12 release. The code, T9RJB-BFKRR-3RBTW-B33TB-KCZB9, can be redeemed via the SHiFT website, granting one Golden Key in the newly launched looter shooter.

While the code doesn't apply to previous entries in the series, it can be used with every version of Borderlands 4 currently available for purchase. The options are not mutually exclusive, allowing fans to redeem the same code up to four times—once each on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. In the past, some SHiFT promotions have also supported eShop titles, so the upcoming Borderlands 4 Switch 2 port could end up being compatible with this coupon as well.
The looter shooter is scheduled to launch on the Switch 2 on October 3. While it may support the newly discovered SHiFT code, redeeming it is unlikely to be as straightforward as on other platforms, all of which can be activated through a browser. SHiFT does not currently allow Nintendo Account linking via its website; instead, the connection must be initiated from a Nintendo console, by logging into SHiFT from a supported game, such as Borderlands 4. From there, the process works the same as with other platforms.
The credits scene SHiFT code does not come with an expiration date, which is a rarity for Gearbox freebies. The company's rewards program doesn't check for product ownership, making it possible to secure items even before buying the games for which they were claimed. Several other Borderlands 4 SHiFT keys are currently available, with most of them being set to expire in September 2025. All claimed Golden Keys can be found in the in-game inventory. They are used for opening unique loot chests found in Carcadia, The Launchpad, The Lockaway, and Belton's Bore.
