There are some missing weapon manufacturers from previous Borderlands games, but based on the footage, it looks like at least some of them might live on through the Licensed Parts system. Like previous Borderlands games, fans will be able to customize their weapons in Borderlands 4 through weapon skins. While it's likely that there will be plenty of weapon skins earnable in-game, at least one requires players to jump through some hoops. To get the Hazard Pay weapon skin in Borderlands 4, players need to sign in to their SHIFT account, and then scroll down to User Preferences. Once there, they need to check the box that says "I would like to receive news and promotional messages from 2K and its affiliates." Then when Borderlands 4 launches, players will get access to the Hazard Pay weapon skin. Subscribing will also net players Golden Keys for multiple Borderlands games. While not specified, chances are good that there will be Golden Keys to redeem for Borderlands 4 as well.

Borderlands 4 recently changed its release date from September 23 to September 12, so fans of the long-running franchise won't have to wait as long to jump into the new game.
