Horrors of Kairos is the first seasonal event for Borderlands 4, featuring a spooky makeover for certain event-specific areas, and it's got a few Halloween-themed goodies for players to loot too. The mechanics of this event are a little confusing, however, as it doesn't quite work the same way that events in previous games did.
The Horrors of Kairos event relies heavily (maybe a bit too heavily) on the open-world design of Borderlands 4. Here's a look at how this event works as well as all the exclusive items you can get for participating in it.
Borderlands 4: The Kairos Job Guide (Puzzles, Power Relays, & More)
The Kairos Job requires players to crack safes and avoid detection lasers, and this guide will walk you through every step to ensure a smooth heist.
How Does Horrors of Kairos Work in Borderlands 4?
Simply put, this Borderlands 4 Halloween event will have players hunting down world bosses, or the bosses that appear inside the iridescent bubbles that appear randomly on the map. Once you find one of these bubbles, hop inside, blast whoever appears, and you'll get a chance to get some shiny new legendary items.
The problem here is that these world boss bubbles spawn randomly. You'll likely spend a ton of time just driving around in Borderlands 4 before you can even spot one. These world bosses aren't like the ones you can target farm for loot in Borderlands 4, but there is one trick you can use to get these bubbles to appear.
Horrors of Kairos will run from October 23 to November 6, and since this is a seasonal event, it will likely become active at around the same time frame in the future.
How to Farm Horrors of Kairos Event in Borderlands 4
Every time you enter a different region in Borderlands 4, the game has a chance to spawn a world boss rift in predetermined areas. If you find a world boss bubble spawn location that's inactive, go somewhere else and wait for a few minutes. Then, return to that bubble spawn location and check if one has appeared. Take note: you are considered to have entered a new area if a location's name pops up on your screen.
For this trick, we recommend checking out the following locations:
- Punitive Manufactorum - Terminus Ridge East
- Fishing Spot - Fadefields
- The forest north of the Launchpad in Fadefields
The Punitive Manufactorum is entered through a small cave entrance along the water.
Fast-travel to one of these locations, then head to the marked areas on the maps above. If there aren't any bubbles, try a different spot. Fast-traveling away is the safest way to do this, and it guarantees that the map will get refreshed after roughly five minutes of waiting.
Borderlands 4: Horrors of Kairos Event Rewards
There are four rewards to get from this event, and two of them are handed out via a redeemable SHiFT Code for BL4:
- Murmur Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: Deals guaranteed critical hits to enemies below 35% health.
- Skully Legendary Grenade: Seeks targets when thrown and fires projectiles while in the air.
- Gourd Your Loins Head and Hex Appeal Weapon Skin: Redeem using code 3S6BB-ZXT93-KRT3W-BT3T3-JW6TZ
Make sure to claim your world boss loot from the Rewards tab in your inventory.
