Gearbox Software teases the first Bounty Pack DLC for Borderlands 4, revealing a short trailer and release date for How Rush Saved Mercenary Day. The Bounty Pack for Borderlands 4 represents the first bigger piece of paid DLC set to arrive for the popular looter shooter, in between all the current updates and free content drops.
Following its September launch, Borderlands 4 has certainly experienced plenty of success. As expected, Gearbox has kept busy with near-constant updates, working to continue improving the overall experience, including a surprising number of buffs in the first major Borderlands 4 balancing update. However, it appears things could be shifting as Gearbox teases the next big update will likely target a popular and highly damaging build. In addition to updates, Gearbox has also revealed the first big paid DLC coming in November.
Borderlands 4 Teases Details for Next Big Update
Gearbox Software devs tease details for the next big Borderlands 4 update, hinting that one currently powerful build could be getting adjusted.
Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1 Release Date
- November 20, 2025
During its PAX Australia panel, Gearbox Software revealed new downloadable content coming to Borderlands 4. With today's announcement, Bounty Pack 1, now known as How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, adds a holiday twist to the looter shooter, placing the Outbounder's leader from Borderlands 4 back in the spotlight. Players will be battling an enemy known as Mister Screw during the Borderlands franchise's fictional holiday known as Mercenary Day.
Prior to launch, Gearbox revealed a roadmap for Borderlands 4, giving players an idea of what sort of content they could expect in the months to come. According to Gearbox, Bounty Packs are shoter paid DLC, adding narrative content for players to play through as well as new gear and cosmetics to chase. How Rush Saved Mercenary Day fits nicely between two free content updates, one for the Halloween season called Horrors of Kairos and then the anticipated Invincible Boss update later this year.
The Bounty Pack and a second one expected in Q1 of 2026 will attempt to hold players over as they wait for the first big Story Pack, equivilent to past expansions for previous Borderlands titles. Gearbox has already revealed a little from Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned as Borderlands 4 confirmed C4SH has its first DLC Vault Hunter. Details are slim, which is expected considering the Story Pack is still so far away, but it appears that the robot will be using dice and playing cards as part of his overall kit.
