Borderlands 4 has officially unveiled the four Vault Hunter classes players will be able to choose from following the release of the highly-anticipated looter shooter sequel. Since the first game's launch in 2009, the run-and-gun franchise has built up a reputation as one of the most popular looter shooters in gaming, complete with raunchy and over-the-top comedy. The franchise has seen three numbered main-series entries, as well as spinoffs like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Now, fans are getting their first look at the playable cast of the long-awaited sequel.
Gearbox Software finally revealed Borderlands 4 late last year after years of rumors and speculations about the franchise's next big game. Borderlands 4 looks to be making plenty of major departures from the franchise's traditions, taking players to a new planet in Kairos and introducing The Timekeeper as the game's main antagonist. Rumors have also hinted at several other series staples not returning, with "Catch-A-Ride" potentially being removed from the newest game. A new gameplay trailer is now introducing fans to four brand-new Vault Hunters.

Gearbox Software suddenly changes the release date for Borderlands 4, and the long-awaited looter shooter is coming sooner than expected.
Gearbox's new "Deep Dive" trailer for Borderlands 4 officially introduces players to the roster of playable Vault Hunters. Borderlands 4 will debut a brand-new cast of four Vault Hunters for players to choose from, showing off Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier as two of the playable characters. The trailer also briefly shows the other two Vault Hunters during a sizzle reel, including a viking-inspired character wielding a pair of axes and a fourth character wearing a visor and wielding a cannon-like gun. Borderlands 4 is currently scheduled to release on September 12.
Borderlands 4 Shows Off New Vault Hunters
Borderlands 4's new Vault Hunters look to put plenty of new spins on some of Borderlands' classic classes. The trailer shows off several abilities the Siren can flex in combat, with Vex able to use her "Phase Energy" to create minions to attack enemies and boost the damage of her Elemental weapons. Rafa functions much like Borderlands' past Soldier-themed classes, creating auto-turrets to fend off enemies and likely serving as one of the roster's most well-rounded characters. Gearbox also gave a brief look at Borderlands 4's skill trees, with three branching paths for players to level up.
Borderlands 4's Gameplay Deep Dive showed off plenty more to excite both longtime fans and newcomers to the series. Borderlands 4 will feature full crossplay between platforms immediately following the game's launch, making it even easier for players to team up with friends. Gearbox also teased several fan-favorite Borderlands characters making a comeback, showing Mad Moxxi, Zane, and franchise mascot Claptrap returning for the next game. Borderlands 4 should offer plenty of variety and flashy techniques with its diverse new lineup of Vault Hunters.
