A Borderlands 4 player has discovered a ridiculously overpowered Amon build that deals billions of damage. This new Amon build was only made possible after the recent Borderlands 4 balance update, which made a key change to the Vault Hunter's Raging Inferno skill.
At launch, many players considered Amon to be the weakest Borderlands 4 Vault Hunter. He was targeted by Gearbox in Borderlands 4's first major balance patch earlier this month, which helped improve the character massively. However, Gearbox is always making small tweaks to every Vault Hunter, and sometimes, this can have unintentional effects. One line in the newest Borderlands 4 patch notes reads, "Raging Inferno Incendiary Damage now properly scales with points invested," and the results have been pretty crazy.

This Overpowered Borderlands 4 Amon Build Deals Billions of Damage
YouTuber EpicNNG has posted a video of their latest Borderlands 4 Amon build, which takes advantage of that Raging Inferno change to deal billions of damage. There are two things at play here. First is the Force of Nature Augment, which means that "Gun Damage dealt to enemies will Prime them for a Duration, and will Detonate when they die or are damaged by a Forgeskill." Players can get 10 stacks of this, and so they can use something like a Spread Launcher to force the game to store stacks of massive damage at once, which activate when they take damage from a Forgeskill.
All of this is considered by the game to be Action Skill Damage. So, using five levels of the Raging Inferno Passive (which gives Action Skill Damage a chance to critically hit and adds Burn Damage for a percentage of damage already dealt), players are able to stack tons of damage at the same time, with the possible numbers well into the billions. In practice, this is more health than any Borderlands 4 boss will ever have, making it essentially an insta-kill for every enemy in the game.
EpicNNG advises players to use this Borderlands 4 Amon build with caution, calling it a "volatile build" and stating it "is most likely getting nerfed." This is due to the fact that even enemies added in future content won't come close to having enough HP to deal with the billions of damage dealt by this. Players who put all of their eggs into the Amon Raging Inferno basket should do so in the knowledge that Gearbox will likely fix this interaction soon enough, much like Borderlands 4's Vex Crit Knife build, which was recently nerfed.
