Gearbox Software has confirmed that Borderlands 4 will have a Photo Mode, but it won't be in the game at launch. Despite the franchise's numerous mainline entries, spin-offs, and DLCs, Borderlands 4 will be only the second game in the series to include the coveted feature. Borderlands 3 launched in September 2019 with a Photo Mode on PC, with the feature making its way to consoles a month later.

Gearbox Software has been slowly updating players on the new content and features Borderlands 4 has to offer, many of which have been added in direct response to player feedback over the years. One major example is the addition of an optional combat radar for Borderlands 4 after fan requests prompted the developers to experiment with the feature just before the game's pre-launch QA testing. With the game making its debut in September, there's still time for Gearbox Software to announce even more features to be added to Borderlands 4 at launch or afterward.

A Photo Mode will be added to Borderlands 4 in a post-launch update. Whether the feature will be included in the game's first post-launch patch or a later update has not yet been announced. According to Borderlands 4 Creative Director Graeme Timmins, a Photo Mode was always planned for inclusion. However, Timmins instructed the development team to focus on the core experience and quality-of-life features for Borderlands 4. With the team focused on polishing in preparation for launch in September, the Photo Mode for Borderlands 4 had to take a backseat until after the game's release.

Photo Mode Will Be Added to Borderlands 4 in an Update

It's no surprise that fans have been requesting a Photo Mode for Borderlands 4, as recent previews have shown its potential to be the most visually striking entry in the series to date. However, before players can make use of the new feature, they'll need to be able to run the game. While its graphics are impressive, they may come at a cost for some gamers, with the minimum PC requirements for Borderlands 4 proving to be too steep for over half of all Steam users.

Fans are still active and excited for Borderlands 4, scanning every pixel of gameplay Gearbox Software has released for any insights into the upcoming looter shooter. Fans have already begun compiling a list of every piece of legendary gear in Borderlands 4 from screenshots collected by community members; a Sisyphean undertaking considering the sheer number of guns in the game. Should the hype for Borderlands 4 continue, Gearbox Software might be able to expect a successful release in September.
