Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has released two brand-new Borderlands 4 SHiFT codes, offering players a Golden Key each in the new game. Players can take advantage of these Borderlands 4 SHiFT codes for a limited time to get rare loot opening Golden Chests.
SHiFT codes are a system featured across the Borderlands games as a way for Gearbox to reward players with in-game keys, which can then be exchanged to open chests and get rare loot for free. They can also unlock new cosmetics, however, this is much rarer. As Borderlands titles get older, Gearbox often becomes a lot more generous with SHiFT codes - just a few weeks back, one code had 70 keys for grabs across various Borderlands titles. However, with Borderlands 4 only releasing a few days ago, it makes sense that the developer doesn't want to just hand all the loot to players for free.
Changes & Tweaks Borderlands 4 Needs ASAP
As great as Borderlands 4’s launch has been so far, there are changes that need to be made.
New Borderlands 4 SHiFT Codes Offer One Golden Key Each
In a post on X, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford decided to "test the SHiFT code system for Golden Keys in Borderlands 4" by handing out two new ones on the platform. These are B9XT3-HX6TT-W6BBW-TTJT3-JTFKX and 39RTT-3ZR3T-5FJBK-3J3J3-C5CRT, each rewarding one Golden Key each. They can be entered on any linked account over on the SHiFT website right now.

Players wanting to use the latest Borderlands 4 SHiFT codes need to act fast. According to Pitchford, the codes will expire on September 16, after which they'll be gone for good. There will definitely be even more SHiFT codes in the future, but at this early stage, these Golden Keys could be particularly important for players getting some awesome loot to help them complete their first playthrough of the game.
The response to Borderlands 4 has been largely positive from critics, with a current Top Critic Average of 85 on review aggregator site OpenCritic. While concerns over the game's PC performance remain, Gearbox has already released a patch for Borderlands 4 aimed squarely at addressing this. Hopefully, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and Gearbox continues to work at smoothing out the experience for players.
