Farming bosses is easier than ever in Borderlands 4, and even the weakest bosses in the game can drop incredibly strong gear. Splashzone is one of the first bosses you face in Borderlands 4, but he can drop some of the best gear in the entire game.
Splashzone appears in the first quest you get from Claptrap in Borderlands 4, ending with you unlocking the glide ability and setting up your first safe house on Kairos. He may seem like an inconsequential throwaway boss encounter, but he's a great farming target that you should return to frequently as you level up throughout the campaign. Here's how you can farm Splashzone and get his legendary drops in Borderlands 4.
PSA: Don’t Overlook One of Borderlands 4’s Best New Features
Borderlands 4's new farming upgrade and revamped level-scaling system make legendary farming more accessible and engaging than ever, even early on.
Where to Find Splashzone in Borderlands 4
Splashzone is located in Riptide Grotto, a bandit camp on the southern coast of the Coastal Bonescape in the Fadefields. To reach it, fast travel to the Abandoned Post safehouse, and then head east until you come across some ponds. From there, turn south, and you can drop down into Riptide Grotto.
You can ignore all of the bandits at Riptide Grotto and just glide straight over to Splashzone's arena in the center of the encampment. The Moxxi's Big Encore machine is located just across the broken bridge to the east of Splashzone's arena. There's an ammo vending machine nearby, so you can sell all your unwanted loot to farm your next rematch.
Splashzone Legendary Drops
Splashzone can drop three legendary items once he's defeated in Borderlands 4.
|
Legendary |
Effect |
|---|---|
|
Firewerks (Shield) |
Bundled: On kill, spawns missiles that home in on nearby enemies. |
|
Jelly (Grenade) |
Self-Replicating: Spawns duplicate grenades. |
|
Lead Balloon (Shotgun) |
Lightweight: Projectiles float upward and spawn child projectiles upon exploding. |
Of all the drops you can get from Splashzone, Firewerks is the best. This legendary shield spawns homing missiles after every kill you get, drastically increasing your damage output. It also has a high chance to roll with the Missile Swarm perk as well, which spawns even more missiles when an armor segment breaks.
Jelly and Lead Balloon are two solid options as well, but they're not as strong as Firewerks. The Jelly grenade duplicates itself after detonation, so it's great for crowd control. Lead Balloon is also great for group scenarios, since its floating projectiles can carpet bomb an entire arena.
Splashzone is one of the easiest bosses to farm in the entire game since his health bar is so short, and he's easily accessible from a fast travel point, so make sure to visit him often for an easy source of new gear. Once you're tired of Splashzone, you can move on to other Borderlands 4 legendary farming spots.
