Gearbox released a new update for Borderlands 4, a smaller update overall but one that makes quality of life adjustments to 2 of the 4 Vault Hunters. The launch of Borderlands 4 was just the start of the journey for players, as Gearbox Software laid out its plans to keep the game feeling fresh between weekly updates, free events, and the eventual arrival of major DLC expansions.
While technically not a true live service title like Fortnite, Gearbox aims to keep Borderlands 4 feeling fresh and alive with new content and improvements. The studio revealed its detailed plans prior to launch with a Borderlands 4 roadmap, followed by further DLC reveals of the upcoming vault hunter C4SH, and the first Bounty Pack called How Rush Saved Mercenary Day. IN between those bigger content releases, Gearbox is constantly rotating quests and various boss battles each week, giving players a chance to earn targetted gear. In addition, these weekly refreshes are typically joined by an update alongside.
Borderlands 4 How Rush Saved Mercenary Day DLC Release Date Confirmed
Borderlands 4 reveals its first narrative driven story content called How Rush Saved Mercenary Day including when players can get their hands on it.
The weekly reset has also brought along a brand-new update and while it may not be as big as the second Borderlands 4 balance patch, there are some changes that players should know. Specifically, Amon's Dragon's Breath and Rafa's First Impression passives now apply the correct bonus amount to each projectile. Prior to this update, the passives were applying their bonus to the total amount of damage instead of to each individual projectile. While the now work as originally intended, players should see an increase in overall damage, especially with guns that fire multiple pellets.
In addition, for players searching for Phosphene weapons in Borderlands 4, this update has also corrected the chance that the Complex Root Maliwan Legendary Sniper Rifle could potentially drop as that rarity. Gearbox didn't elaborate on if the chance was increased or lowered slightly, but it's likely that the weapon will still be very rare to find, as it is with Phosphene tier weapons.
Finally, it's reset day in the world of Borderlands 4, which means players will find a new rotation of content to play. For the weekly Moxxi's Big Encore Boss, players can face off against a stronger Pango Bango, with the promise of more rewarding loot should they prevail. The weekly wildcard mission is now Mob Rules with the Healthy, Fortified, and Regenerative modifiers with Burt's Bees as the legendary gear reward. Finally, Maurice's Black Market Vending Machine in Borderlands 4 has once again moved and has all new gear to discover.
