A strange vending machine offering glorious loot can be found in Carcadia, within the Ruined Sumplands of Carcadia Burn in Borderlands 4. Approaching the vending machine and learning the tale from Penelope Streams and the Vault Gatherers will take players on a wild ride involving a Legendary Vending Machine, but where exactly is it, and how can players get the mysterious "All Things Vend" trophy? Below, we've listed every puzzle solution and location to the Vend of the Line side mission, along with how to get the secret ending for a trophy.
It's very important to follow the steps for the final encounter with the Legendary Vending Machine, as this side mission is not available in replay, and thus, they will miss the trophy.
It's also worth noting that if playing this quest in co-op, only one player can purchase a Legendary item.
Vend of the Line Puzzle #1 Solution
- Loot Needed: Green Rarity x2, Blue Rarity x2
After speaking with Penelope Streams and the Vault Gatherer located at Carcadia, players can examine the back of the Vending Machine to discover the code: Green, Green, Blue, Blue. Each of these dollar signs has a cross through it, which means that the weapon of this rarity must be sold. Interact with the Vending Machine and head into the Sell screen and sell your gear in the following order: Green rarity, Green rarity, Blue rarity, Blue rarity. Doing so will see the Vending Machine glitch out and offer you the next location.
Feel free to sell your equipped or valued gear, as you can use the Buy Back tab on the Vending Machine after you've solved the puzzle.
Vend of the Line Puzzle #2 Solution
- Loot Needed: Green Rarity x2, Blue Rarity x1, Purple Rarity x1
The next Vending Machine is located just south of Carcadia (pictured above). Players can climb the building with their boost pack to find the vending machine, except this one has been broken. Thankfully, to the right of the Vending Machine is a rooftop that has a power switch, so simply interacting with it will turn the power back on. From here, head behind the Vending Machine to view the code, which is: Green, Purple, Blue, Green. These symbols have no crosses, which means players need to purchase gear from the Vending Machine instead of selling it. However, the Vending Machine doesn't have any stock. Instead, players can sell a Green, Purple, Blue, and Green, and then enter the Buy Back screen. Within the Buy Back screen, purchase in the following order: Green, Purple, Blue, Green. The Vending Machine will glitch out and provide the next step.
This step is not bugged, as players need to Buy Back the weapons they sell in the order above.
Vend of the Line Puzzle #3 Solution
- Loot Needed: None
Head further south of Carcadia into Grindstone of the Worthy, where players will now be in Crumblehall (pictured above). Within this location, there's a toppled-over Vending Machine with arrows pointing north. However, since the Vending Machine was once upright, that means that the arrows are in fact pointing up. Follow the stairs up and climb the ladder, then jump across onto the sandbags to see the code in the window, which reads: Purple, Purple, Orange, Orange. Luckily, you don't actually need any gear of these rarities, as you just have to return to the Vault Gatherer that's stuck underneath the Vending Machine so he can enter the code himself and provide the next piece of the puzzle.
Vend of the Line Puzzle #4 Solution
- Loot Needed: Green Rarity x1, Blue Rarity x1, Purple Rarity x2
Head to Embracer's Bluff in the south region of Lopside, on the way back to Fadefields. Here, players can find another Vending Machine, along with a rather rude Vault Gatherer that won't get out of the way. Players can decide to melee the customer or shoot the machine to activate the defense mechanisms. Neither decision matters for the quest, but we decided to select melee customer as that allowed the Vault Gatherer Scout to run away instead of being mercilessly murdered by a Vending Machine. With the Vault Gatherer out of the way, face the Vending Machine and look left to see a destructible wooden plank. You can find the code on the back of the Vending Machine by crouch-walking through the hole you've opened up, and the code reads: Green, Purple, Blue, Purple. For this puzzle, sell the following rarities in this order: Green, Purple, Blue, Purple. The Vending Machine will again glitch out, to reveal the last Vending Machine location.
Vend of the Line Puzzle #5 Solution
- Loot Needed: Green Rarity x1, Blue Rarity x1, Purple Rarity x1, Orange Rarity x1
The final Vending Machine will take players to the Grindstone of the Worthy, just east of Carcadia. Players will end up in The Dusty Dangler, which is overrun with Rippers, so make sure to clear them out before proceeding. In this location is another Vending Machine, and the back of it reads: Green, Blue, Purple, Orange. This means that players must select the Sell option on the Vending Machine and sell in the following order: Green, Blue, Purple, Orange. If you don't have a Legendary item (Orange), then feel free to come back to this later, or farm some bosses, as you can always buy the loot back after selling it. Either way, once players have sold the correct gear in order, they will be able to follow a powered wire that takes them down to a cave within the cliff just below The Dusty Dangler.
It's very important that players bring 3 Green Rarity items to sell for this part, and do not buy the Legendary item from the Legendary Vending Machine straight away. The steps are listed below to help you get the All Things Vend trophy.
How to Get the All Things Vend Trophy
Deliver the Contents of the Legendary Vending Machine
- Loot Needed: Green Rarity x3
Once players have followed the powered wire to the cave, they will find the Legendary Vending Machine... Except it's evil. Players will need to find and kill Vend Zane, and upon doing so, they are free to purchase a Legendary weapon for $1! However, it's essential that you do not do this right away. Look to where the Legendary Vending Machine was originally sat, and you'll find a code: Green, Green, Green, Orange. This code means that you will need to sell 3 Green items, then purchase an Orange item. Sell the 3 Green items before making your purchase of the Legendary item (pick any, as it's random per account). After doing so correctly, the Vending Machine will die, and leave behind an item: Picture of Zane and Levaine. Players can now head to Moxxi's Bottoms Up in Carcadia to deliver the photo to Zane, completing the quest and rewarding them with the All Things Vend trophy.
