Borderlands is getting a crossover with tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege X. The combination may come as a surprise to both Borderlands and Rainbow Six Siege X fans, considering the difference between their genres.

It's a new era of collaborations and crossovers in gaming, and Rainbow Six Siege X is no stranger to them. Prior to its relaunch as Rainbow Six Siege X, the game partnered with titles like Dead by Daylight, Resident Evil, as well as other media like The Boys, and even Twitch streamer Jynxzi. Now, it's adding one more title to its list.

One Borderlands Series Staple is Already Confirmed For BL4

Borderlands 4 is breaking many of the series' established traditions, but there is one that it thankfully isn't letting go of.

Now, Rainbow Six Siege X has dropped a teaser revealing the collaboration with Borderlands. The teaser consists of a brief video of one of Borderlands' infamous Psychos staring at the camera with a lit lighter in his hand, before releasing it and revealing the Rainbow Six Siege X logo on one side and the Borderlands logo on the other. Players of both franchises are encouraged to stay tuned for July 15, when more information will be revealed on what this crossover will contain.

July 15 Will Be a Big Day for Ubisoft Fans

While much about the Rainbow Six Siege X and Borderlands collaboration is unknown at this time, what is known is that July 15 will be a major day for fans of Ubisoft games. July 15 will be the final day to enter Ubisoft's Photomode contest, which can net players a trip to Ubisoft Montreal for a tour of the studio, among a selection of other rewards for those who land in second-to-tenth place.

Further, The Division 2 and Payday 3 will be launching their own crossover on that day. The Division 2 received a similarly brief teaser to the Borderlands and Rainbow Six crossover, only showing Division agents walking in formation while wearing some of the iconic masks the thieves of the Payday franchise use.

In both of Ubisoft's crossovers, it's not yet clear if Payday and Borderlands will be doing anything on their side, or if the series will only collide within Ubisoft's games. While Payday 3 could implement something from The Division 2 easily enough, Borderlands 4 isn't out yet, complicating matters a bit. However, Borderlands 4 players can get a weapon skin for the game before its launch, so it's not out of the question. Given Rainbow Six Siege's crossover history, though, players should likely expect to see Borderlands cosmetics within the tactical FPS, but not necessarily the other way around. In any case, fans of both franchises will learn more on July 15.
