A Borderlands fan and gamer created a custom-built PC and drew inspiration from Maliwan, one of the series' twelve mega-corporations, for the design elements. The fan then posted their handiwork on social media, where other Borderlands fans complimented them on their work and questioned why they chose Maliwan as the basis for their work.

Throughout the entire Borderlands series, the twelve weapon manufacturers all have unique properties and designs for the different weapon and shield types. In the case of Maliwan, their specialty lies in adding elemental properties to their projectile weapons and shields or changing the type of projectile fired from a weapon, to do extra damage at the cost of having a charge time in most cases. With curved designs on weapons such as the sniper rifle and a poetic naming scheme, the blue-clad Maliwan weapons stand out compared to their competition. However, one Borderlands fan decided to take the coloring scheme of Maliwan and apply it to a real-world project.

On Reddit, a user named A_Laughing_Dead_Man posted an in-progress build of a Maliwan-themed PC case. The build was posted on the r/borderlands3 subreddit, and showed different angles of the build. According to A_Laughing_Dead_Man, they chose the Coolermaster NR200 as the base of their project. They used a mix of masking tape, PC-7 epoxy putty, primers, and acrylic paints on the case's exterior, and tried to emulate the cel-shaded art style that the Borderlands series is known for. However, they stated that the build has more components and parts to customize over time.

The in-progress build from A_Laughing_Dead_Man received over 1.1k upvotes on r/borderlands3 in just a day, with some comments asking about the case and what sort of plans will be implemented down the line. While Cooler Master is known for making peripherals, such as the MM720 gaming mouse, their NR200 is a mini-ITX case that is priced at $102.99 on Amazon at the time of writing. The case has room for up to six fans, despite its small form factor, and builders can take advantage of the included vertical GPU adapter for more build options. In the case of A_Laughing_Dead_Man, they stated that they have ideas on how to make the build appear to be Eridium-powered via a custom loop, as well as adding a handle to the exterior.

Just as the weapon designs express the manufacturers' values in Borderlands, a custom-built PC is an excellent way for gamers to express themselves and their creativity. Only time will tell what direction this PC will take in the future, and which direction the Borderlands series will go.

Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
