A player in the original Borderlands managed to come across an Easter egg they'd somehow missed 15 years after the game originally launched, making for an interesting and popular online revelation. Borderlands is a series with a massive amount of content and characters, so it's natural that some might go unnoticed, but the revelation still managed to impress other fans online.

Borderlands is known for its wildly charismatic and unique characters, many of which are allies to the player as they hunt for the mythical vault on Pandora, but others are out to stop them. While some take the form of high-stakes main antagonists like the fan favorite Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2, others, like Baron Flynt from the original game, come and go within a few quests.

Reddit user TheMarvelousJoe shared a unique Easter egg involving Baron Flynt from the first Borderlands game to the gaming subreddit, which showed the villain sitting in his usual seat in-game with the usual rustic debris around him as decoration. However, as the user pointed out, the pipes and signs that adorn the walls around Flynt appear to spell out his name, while an arrow in the center points down at him, as if letting the player know who he is.

Borderlands Fan Discovers Subtle Easter Egg That's Gone Unnnoticed for Years

Others in the comments agreed with the original poster, stating that many of them also failed to notice the Easter egg despite having played Borderlands numerous times and for many hours. Some also mentioned that the player could be forgiven for having missed it, since the Borderlands series has so many Easter eggs and references, that it's unlikely a player would be able to see all of them.

Despite the critical and financial flop of the recent Borderlands film, the series is still as popular as ever, as discussions about the games and expectations for later entries continue to abound. In fact, Borderlands 3 even saw a huge increase in players on Steam following the film's release, showing a seemingly renewed interest in the franchise despite the movie's failure.

Fortunately for fans, developer Gearbox Software recently revealed Borderlands 4, which is set to release next year, so there is still plenty to look forward to when it comes to the story and the series' many Easter eggs. Though there is still no official release date for the game, it is confirmed to launch sometime in 2025, giving Borderlands fans a chance to catch up on the series in the meantime.
