This article contains spoilers from the Naruto and Boruto series.
If there's one thing that the fans of the Naruto series would love to see in Boruto, it's the return of their beloved Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. Ever since the Boruto series started, Naruto Uzumaki has been on the receiving end of quite a lot of mistreatment from the new author, Mikio Ikemoto, and that's certainly not nice to see. He's already been nerfed on several occasions, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. The biggest issue with Naruto Uzumaki is that he's been cut out of the story completely for now.
Naruto Uzumaki's Successor Is Officially Confirmed, And It's An Even Stronger Ninja
Naruto Uzumaki has a successor, and this new ninja will surpass him in power in Boruto.
Naruto Uzumaki isn't directly involved in Boruto anymore, and this is primarily because he was sealed away by Kawaki. It's been over two years since that happened, and every day, fans of the character hope that they get an update on his return. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Naruto Uzumaki will return anytime soon in Boruto. If anything, it's just been confirmed in the Boruto series that Naruto's return will have to wait, possibly for several years. As such, fans will need to say goodbye to their favorite Hokage for now.

Naruto Isn't Present In Two Blue Vortex
- Naruto Uzumaki will remain sealed for now
- The author has no plans to free him at the moment
At the end of the Naruto Next Generations manga, fans officially saw Naruto Uzumaki sealed by Kawaki in the dimension of Daikokuten, along with Hinata Hyuga. Kawaki did this to protect them from the threat of the Otsutsuki, but also to ensure that they don't get in the way when, on the quest to eliminate all Otsutsuki, he comes across Boruto to kill him. Since then, the story has moved ahead quite a lot and there's still no sign of Naruto Uzumaki's return.

Boruto: Kishimoto Officially Confirms A New Otsutsuki-Level Ninja
There are many powerful ninjas in Boruto, but not many can be considered Otsutsuki-level.
If anything, the latest arc of Boruto just confirmed to the fans that Naruto won't be returning for years, possibly, and that's quite disheartening. For one, Jura has officially declared his target to be Naruto Uzumaki, having found out that he's still alive. More than that, fans know now that Kawaki will do everything he can to protect Naruto. In other words, Kawaki won't free Naruto Uzumaki while Jura is alive, which also means all the Shinju will have to die before his official return.
Naruto Will Only Return After Kawaki Vs Boruto
The Battle Is Years Away For Now
At the same time, fans also need to keep in mind that when Kawaki fights Boruto, he says that he'll send him to the same place as the Seventh Hokage, which means the Seventh Hokage is still in the said places, which, in this case, is the dimension of Daikokuten. This means Naruto Uzumaki will only be freed after the battle between Kawaki and Boruto. It also means that he won't be back anytime soon.
Boruto, I'll send you to the same place as Lord Seventh. — Kawaki
Putting things into perspective, the Shinju will take at least 20-30 chapters to be crushed. At the very least, that'll take around 2 years, and then fans have the fight against Kawaki to look forward to. Once again, this arc will also take somewhere between 1-3 years to fully unfold, which means Naruto's return won't happen before the next 3 years, at the very least. It could even take five years or more, which is shocking, but it is the reality that Naruto fans are faced with.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 27 is set for its official release on October 20, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
