This article contains spoilers from the Naruto and Boruto series.
Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most iconic characters in not just the Naruto series, but also in all of anime. He's known to be one of the greatest deuteragonists in the media, having carved out an arc of his own that fans love as much as that of Naruto Uzumaki. Fans absolutely love Sasuke Uchiha, which is why his absence from the story right now hurts tremendously. As is quite clear in the Boruto series, Sasuke Uchiha isn't around anymore, and that's quite sad for all the fans to see.
Boruto: Kishimoto Officially Confirms A New Otsutsuki-Level Ninja
There are many powerful ninjas in Boruto, but not many can be considered Otsutsuki-level.
Sasuke Uchiha left Konoha at the end of the first part of the Boruto series. Shortly after, the Boruto series went on a timeskip, and while most fans expected Sasuke Uchiha to return with Boruto, the exact opposite happened. It was revealed that Sasuke Uchiha had been incapacitated during the Boruto timeskip, and since then, fans have been waiting eagerly for his return. Unfortunately, it's time for all the Sasuke fans to say goodbye to him for now, as he won't be returning in the next two years, at the very least.
Sasuke Uchiha Was Turned Into A Tree
Sasuke Will Only Be Freed After Hidari Is Beaten
- Sasuke's return hinges on Sarada's success
- Hidari is difficult to take down
During the timeskip of the Boruto series, Sasuke and Boruto trained tremendously hard, and it is canonically stated that both of them grew stronger. Sasuke even fought against Code and his Claw Grimes during this time, and in this fight, Sasuke Uchiha was able to overwhelm Code. He even managed to take his left eye, which goes to show his growth during the timeskip. Unfortunately, eventually, Sasuke was overwhelmed by the sheer numbers he was up against and was bitten by one of the Claw Grimes and turned into a tree.

Boruto: Kishimoto Has Already Revealed Naruto's Replacement Power After Kurama
Naruto lost Kurama, but he will get an even greater power up when he returns to Boruto.
Since then, Sasuke has remained incapacitated and to save him, the Shinju must be taken care of, specifically Hidari. That said, taking down Hidari is easier said than done. He has all the powers of Sasuke Uchiha, aside from the Mangekyo Sharingan, and his overall strength is immense. Even Boruto, at full power, failed to finish off Hidari and that was before he grew stronger. Given his level, it is going to be a while before he's officially taken down in Boruto.

Sasuke Will Return After Shinju Are Defeated
It Will Be Years Before They're Dealt With
Sasuke Uchiha's return rests heavily on the defeat of the Shinju. Right now, three Shinju still remain. Bug will most certainly be taken down in the current arc of Boruto, which will leave behind the two most important ones, Hidari and Jura. They are likely to attack Konoha together and will likely fall in the same arc. In other words, the arc after the current one will most likely see Jura and Hidari fall, and only after that can Sasuke Uchiha return.
In terms of chapters, however, fans should expect the current new arc to be at least 10 chapters long, with the one after that being anywhere between 10-15 chapters, since it focuses on not one but two of the most powerful Shinju. In other words, Sasuke won't be back for two years, at the very least, and that's sad to think about.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 27 is set for its official release on October 20, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
