Amidst all this, the strongest of characters will have to join forces and save the world, and as expected, much of it revolves around the Uzumaki Clan. As fans know, the Uzumaki Clan faced a terrible fate in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Ikemoto has now revealed how the clan was kept alive during the timeskip.

The end of part 1 of Boruto was quite tragic for Naruto Uzumaki and all those around him, and all their misery was brought upon by Kawaki. After the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki, things tense in Konoha, especially after Naruto Uzumaki lost the power of Kurama. Kawaki mentioned clearly that he wanted to kill all Otsutsuki, including Boruto, and this led to him sealing away both Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata.

Boruto: Kishimoto Has Already Teased Sarada's Most Overpowered Ability
Sarada has a great Mangekyo Sharingan ability, but she is only going to get more powerful from here onwards in Boruto TBV.
Later on, he tried to kill Boruto, and when his plan flopped, Eida helped him tremendously and used the power of Omnipotence to swap the lives of Kawaki and Boruto. Now, Kawaki is considered an Uzumaki, while Boruto is considered an orphan whom Naruto once took in. More than that, Boruto was considered to be the killer of the Seventh Hokage. In essence, the Uzumaki Clan suffered a major blow. In the eyes of the world, Naruto and Hinata were dead, while Kawaki and Himawari were the only living Uzumaki in Konoha.

Himawari Kept The Household Alive
With Boruto Uzumaki having been cast out, the Uzumaki Clan was on the brink of destruction in Boruto, specifically in Konoha. But, it appears that Himawari Uzumaki kept things alive by herself. Ikemoto himself revealed that Himawari lived alone in the Uzumaki residence, working all by herself. Even though Naruto is declared dead, Himawari still believes that her parents will return someday, and in her own way, she's preparing the place for their return. Here's what the author had to say:
Q: Where and how did the sunflowers live after the catastrophe?
A: At her own request, she lives alone at the Uzumaki residence, doing all the household chores. Himawari feels that her parents will return someday, so she tries to protect their "place to stay.”
In other words, the Uzumaki Clan of Konoha is being kept alive by Himawari. This is interesting, because Kawaki is considered an Uzumaki by all, yet Himawari lives alone. This means Kawaki decided to live by himself somewhere, leaving the burden of maintaining the Uzumaki Clan to Himawari. Hopefully, Naruto and Hinata will be unsealed soon and the Omnipotence is reserved as well.
