Summary

  • Jura seeks knowledge about humanity through observation and study.
  • Jura struggles to understand human reasoning, especially in times of danger.
  • There's a slim chance Jura could switch sides and work with humans in Boruto.

The world is once again in danger in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex after Jura and the Humanoid God Trees come into being. There’s no stopping the direct incarnation of Ten-Tails after it became sentient and awakened consciousness. But unlike other Boruto villains, Jura and the God Trees crave knowledge, purpose, and identity more than anything else. This craving requires them, especially Jura, to study humans and how the world works.

Before Jura and the God Trees fulfill their original purpose in Boruto, they want to know who they truly are by following their instinct. The first step is to immerse themselves in the world they inhabit before devouring their template. In a way, they are not intrinsically evil, as Shikamaru mentioned, considering they’re like wild beasts with no true evil intent and are merely acting on instinct.

Jura’s Deep Obsession with Humans and Their Behavior

Jura Keeps a Notebook Full of Information About Humans

  • Jura keeps a daily record of his observations about humans.
  • Jura prefers to gain knowledge and information rather than to fight and kill.

The recent developments in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex prove that Jura is truly a one-of-a-kind villain. Instead of going all-out against Boruto from the very beginning, he yearns to understand his unpredictable behavior, actions, and decisions. It’s almost as if he prefers sitting down with him to talk about human knowledge and its side effects instead of attacking him with a miniature Bijuu bomb.

In fact, when Jura came into being and gained sentience, he let Boruto escape because his interest in humanity and their world topped his intent to kill. He is incredibly curious about the world, as the more knowledge he acquires, the more it reveals his ignorance. To address this shortcoming, Jura delayed his original plans. And what better way to study humans than to keep a notebook where he can record all of his observations?

Overflowing curiosity and thirst for knowledge are still surpassing our instinctual drive to devour you.—Jura

As revealed by Mikio Ikemoto in a recent Q and A, Jura keeps a notebook where he can record relevant details about humans. From various discoveries, questions he wants to ask them, and things that catch his interest to his interactions with humans, Jura makes sure his growing information is organized. With each passing day, he never fails to study humans and the very proof of that is his notebook.

Understanding Humans Is Difficult and Challenging for Jura

Jura Wants to Comprehend Human Love and Reasoning

  • Jura longs to understand human love and reasoning.
  • Jura thinks it’s impossible to pin down the very definition of love.

One thing that Jura finds difficult to comprehend is how humans behave in times of danger. He believes that humans have common sense, but they lose it once the people they love or care about get involved in a dangerous situation. For instance, Inojin threw his life on the line when Jura attacked Himawari. The same thing happened with Boruto, who sprang into action to protect Konohamaru despite knowing the risks in previous chapters.

"This other concept carries with it the risk of causing even us Divine Trees serious problems. It's called love"—Jura

As a result, Jura goes above and beyond to understand human reasoning and the very concept of love. He even considers it as a fatal flaw not just for humans, but also for the God Trees, knowing how it derailed Matsuri’s thinking before she died. In other words, it’s incomprehensible to him how love and reasoning drastically lower human judgment over and over again.

Could Jura Side with Humans?

There’s a Possibility

picture: jura in boruto two blue vortex.
  • Jura can act decently around ordinary humans in Konoha.
  • There’s no conclusive evidence Jura and the God Trees are intrinsically evil.

There was a time in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex when Jura would make his way into one of Konoha’s libraries or bookshops to read. According to Shikamaru, he likely values Konoha’s cultural value in high esteem, which makes him reluctant to attack the village. The citizens of Konoha acted naturally with Jura around, treating him like a normal customer, knowing that angering him would cause serious trouble.

If Jura could maintain this decent behavior with the humans, there’s always a chance he could switch sides down the line. Even the interim Hokage believes he’s not intrinsically evil, so they could at least attempt to reason with him.

While it seems impossible to coexist peacefully with Jura and the God Trees, given the major threat they pose to humans, there’s a slim chance they could work together. After all, there are major villains who later become allies in Naruto, which also makes it possible for Boruto to happen. At this point, perhaps Kashin Koji and Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who could see glimpses of the future, know the answer.
