Naruto Uzumaki might not be the main character of the Boruto series, but that doesn't mean he's not important to the plot in the sequel story. Naruto is still quite important in Boruto, at the very least, initially. Fans saw Naruto fight the biggest of enemies in the beginning, and the author made sure that he was always at the forefront of things when it came to trouble.

Against the strongest enemy seen in the Boruto series, Isshiki Otsutsuki, Naruto Uzumaki took a stand and tapped into a never-before-seen power, called Baryon Mode. Fans saw this incredible power not only match or rival Isshiki, but actually surpass him, which is what made it extremely special. That said, Baryon Mode Naruto isn't unbeatable and there is one character who actually ranks even higher in terms of power.

Baryon Mode is an absolutely monstrous ability, but it is also a double-edged sword at the same time. The basis for the technique is quite simple. Baryon Mode allows a Jinchuriki to take the chakra of the host and the beast and use it as raw materials to create a new source of power that is far greater than anything seen before. This power is similar in concept to nuclear fusion, and that's why it is as powerful as it is.

Baryon Mode Naruto was on a completely different level of strength, and fans could clearly see that in the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki. Whereas Naruto was nowhere near Isshiki's power initially, after using Baryon Mode, he was able to easily match his level of power. As noted by Sasuke, Naruto wasn't only matching Isshiki Otsutsuki, but he was actually beating him, such was this new power.

Shibai Is A God Above Gods

While it is true that Naruto Uzumaki is the strongest character seen in the Boruto series that plays a direct role in the story, he isn't the strongest overall. Kishimoto and Ikemoto have already introduced Shibai Otsutsuki to the story, who is widely believed to be the strongest in the world. His abilities were out of this world, and if anyone truly deserves the title of the strongest in the Boruto series, it is Shibai Otsutsuki.

I realize that Boruto started as a sequel to Naruto, but due to Naruto's massive presence, it's been a pretty tough road to travel. Boruto has finally emerged as a proper protagonist in his own right. But will he be a hero on the same level as his father? Or maybe even surpass him? To be honest... I'm not entirely sure what'll happen, myself. That'll depend on the support of our readers, so please keep on cheering for us. —Ikemoto

Shibai Is The Strongest In The World

While fans haven't seen much of Shibai Otsutsuki just yet, it is highly likely that he will, at some point later down the line, be involved in the main plot as well. Shibai coming in as a main villain in Boruto isn't out of the question, and fans would actually love to see that happen. Of course, whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen. For now, he's only a legend a mimicry of whose powers are being used by others.
