This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is missing two legendary ninjas on the battlefield at the moment. The first is Naruto Uzumaki, and the other is his greatest rival and friend, Sasuke Uchiha, who has been turned into a tree thanks to Code. While Jura and the God Trees are on the rise, Sasuke remains confined, unable to make a significant contribution to the battlefield.
Unfortunately, Sasuke’s fate won’t change anytime soon, as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is setting up an exciting and intense arc where saving Sasuke might not be the first priority. Instead, Kishimoto and Ikemoto are giving hints about a major conflict in Konoha involving Eida and Daemon, as well as the Shinju, Mamushi. Too bad, Sasuke’s situation leaves him powerless to intervene.
Naruto: Kishimoto Has Already Set Up Naruto and Sasuke's Next Fight, And It's Their Biggest Battle Yet
Naruto and Sasuke are currently sealed. But eventually, they will have their biggest battle in Boruto.
Sasuke Uchiha’s Tragic Fate in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Sasuke Is Still Trapped and Turned Into a Tree
- Sasuke Uchiha is sidelined in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
- There's no room for growth for Sasuke in Boruto: TBV right now.
Sasuke Uchiha is one of the strongest characters who remain relevant in the story of Boruto Uzumaki. He has been a role model to Boruto, raising him like his real son, on Naruto’s behalf. Of course, he also plays a crucial role in Sarada’s growth, despite being absent for most of her childhood. Both Boruto and Sarada carry pieces of Sasuke’s legacy, and it shows in as many different ways as possible.
Unfortunately, just like Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke suffers a massive blow to his abilities, leaving him far weaker than he once was. After losing his Rinnegan to Momoshiki Otsutsuki, through a possessed Boruto, he later lost his freedom to Code just to save his one and only disciple. Now, Sasuke has been turned into a tree, far removed from the battles and people he once swore to protect.
In other words, Sasuke Uchiha has been removed from the story, at least for now. Being trapped effectively sidelines Sasuke from the current events of the Boruto manga, marking a bittersweet pause in his mentorship role. Fans are hoping for Sasuke’s epic comeback, wishing he could grow stronger once he’s finally freed from the Shinju curse like Moegi and Shinki.
Sasuke Is Not Getting Stronger in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Sasuke Uchiha’s Power Fades Bit by Bit
At the moment, Sasuke Uchiha is not getting stronger in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, as much as fans would love to see him regain his power while being confined in a tree. Instead, Sasuke's chakra is depleting little by little to supply energy and power to his Shinju Clone, Hidari. This means that Sasuke’s condition is worsening the longer he remains trapped, contrary to expectations that he might be regenerating or gathering strength for an epic future comeback.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to see Sasuke regain the power that once made him one of the strongest characters in the world of Naruto. Fans are still free to assume Sasuke could regain his Rinnegan as well as his arm, but the current direction of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga makes that outcome uncertain for two special and logical reasons.
It's not the future I dream of anymore. Only the past.—Sasuke Uchiha
First, if Sasuke comes back stronger, he could overshadow up-and-coming ninjas of the next generation like Sarada, Boruto, and Himawari once again. Second, nothing special happened to Moegi after she was freed from the tree. Worse, Moegi suffered from malnutrition, and that might also apply to future Sasuke. Now that Sasuke has gone rogue and can no longer rely on Konoha’s support, the question becomes: who will look after him? Probably Boruto and Kashin Koji.
Sasuke’s Comeback Could Happen Before Naruto’s Big Return
Sasuke Just Needs Hidari’s Thorn Soul Bulb
At this point, many fans are expecting to see Sasuke before they can witness Naruto Uzumaki’s epic comeback in the Boruto manga. After all, it’s easier for the main characters to bring back Sasuke, as they only need to defeat Hidari and retrieve his thorn soul bulb, compared to Naruto, whose situation is far more complicated. Being sealed within another dimension makes his rescue more difficult, unless Kawaki suddenly has a change of heart or Jura goes berserk.
Most likely, Sasuke will return before Naruto does, given that his freedom aligns more naturally with the current events of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Whether it is Boruto or Sarada who will defeat Hidari and rescue Sasuke, his return is bound to be one of the most anticipated moments right now. For Boruto, it means finally reuniting with his master, while for Sarada, it’s the long-awaited chance to see his legendary father once again.
