The Boruto series is the official continuation of Naruto, and fans know very well that in this era, the Otsutsuki are among the biggest threats. While the series starts with Naruto Uzumaki as the strongest of all, things change quite a bit as stronger enemies are officially introduced, and more than that, as he is nerfed. Still, Kishimoto did what he did to show the fans bits of both Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha.

As fans are well aware, Naruto and Sasuke will always maintain their friendly rivalry. The two fought on several occasions in the original Naruto series, and while they are now close friends, their rivalry continues. According to Kishimoto himself, Naruto and Sasuke are largely equal by the time of adulthood. However, it seems that in the Boruto series, Sasuke has now officially surpassed Naruto Uzumaki, something that not many fans expected to see. This information comes directly from Ikemoto and Kishimoto, as they portray Sasuke to be a character strong enough to fight and even injure a Limiter-less Code, something that Naruto wouldn't be able to achieve.

Sasuke and Naruto were equals at the beginning of the Boruto series. The two even fought against Momoshiki Otsutsuki together, and it goes without saying that, overall, they could best just about anyone in the world. Even Momoshiki couldn't take them down together, such was their strength. Even though Jigen did beat them, he had to rely on the power of the Ten Tails to do so, and without that, he would've faced certain defeat.

It's Time To Say Goodbye To Sasuke Uchiha In Boruto For Now
Sasuke has been turned into a tree, and he won't be returning anytime soon in Boruto.
The only one who could overwhelm Naruto and Sasuke together would be Isshiki Otsutsuki at his maximum power. That said, once Naruto tapped into Baryon Mode, Isshiki was left in the dust. Both Naruto and Sasuke lost their powers in the Boruto series in the same arc, but not all of them remained powerless.
Naruto Uzumaki was sealed away by Kawaki, but Sasuke managed to escape the village with Boruto, and the two trained together during the timeskip. In the first year, Sasuke has been confirmed to have gotten much stronger, even without his Rinnegan. A year and a half into the timeskip, Sasuke was so strong that he could actually fight evenly with Code and even take his eye from him, despite the latter having the support of Claw Grimes and Sasuke having to protect Boruto. While Sasuke grew strong enough to reach this level, Naruto remained sealed.

Naruto Will Catch Up To Sasuke Eventually

For those wondering how strong Sasuke was, it is quite clear to see. With limiters unleashed, Code was said to be stronger than Jigen. The version of Code that Sasuke injured heavily didn't have limiters and had the support of the Claw Grimes. Sasuke being able to severely injure him means that he is now far stronger than Naruto.
That said, Naruto and Sasuke always grow together. When Naruto does return, fans should fully expect him to grow stronger and match Sasuke's level. Unfortunately, his return isn't anywhere close at the moment.
