This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Naruto Uzumaki is quite easily one of the most popular characters not just in his own series, but in all of anime as a whole. Fans know Naruto to be a tremendously powerful individual, but more than that, someone who represents the ideal to never give up and one who stands against all odds. It's these qualities of Naruto Uzumaki that make him as liked as he is today. Unfortunately, the Boruto series hasn't been as kind to Naruto Uzumaki as it could've been, and that's quite a shame.

There are many powerful ninjas in Boruto, but not many can be considered Otsutsuki-level.

The series, focused on his son, Boruto Uzumaki, has seen to it that Naruto Uzumaki is officially removed from the plot and completely incapacitated. Right now, Naruto Uzumaki is sealed away in Boruto, and the village that he is supposed to protect is there without a proper protector. That said, Kishimoto and Ikemoto haven't completely left Konoha without a Hero. Fans know very well that Konoha already has a new Naruto Uzumaki replacement, although one that's not nearly half as impressive or iconic as him. Konoha’s new acting Hokage is none other than Shikamaru Nara, and he's officially replaced Naruto after Omnipotence finally took effect.

Shikamaru Nara Replaced Naruto Uzumaki In Boruto As Hokage

Shikamaru Is The Acting Hokage Of Konoha

  • Shikamaru will likely be removed as Hokage soon

When the first part of the Boruto series officially ended, fans were eagerly waiting to see who the next Hokage of the village would be. Most fans were hoping for Sasuke Uchiha or Sakura Haruno to have taken this position officially.

Shikamaru, you won't be able to dodge the position of Hokage forever. — Elders to Shikamaru

For the former, it would've been difficult as he left the village with Boruto, but the latter would've been the perfect replacement for Naruto Uzumaki until he returned. Much to the surprise of the fans, Naruto Uzumaki's official replacement was none other than Shikamaru Nara, his best advisor.

Fans know Shikamaru to be very smart, and it goes without saying that there probably isn't a better advisor in Konoha than him. Unfortunately, he is far from being a good leader or a strong one. Overall, he isn't a good replacement for Naruto and he most certainly won't last long either. Shikamaru is facing the wrath of the village elders for siding with Boruto Uzumaki, and it looks like he won't be keeping the Hokage seat for long.

While Shikamaru Nara is the acting Hokage of Konoha, fans know very well that in the long run, the true replacement of Naruto Uzumaki is none other than Sarada Uchiha. Just like Naruto, Sarada holds the goal of becoming Hokage, and she wants to go straight to the very top. Her recent awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan saw to it that she gets closer to the goal of becoming Hokage, but it's still too soon for her to take on this position. In the next few years, Sarada Uchiha will surely have matured enough to be good enough to take on this position. Perhaps, Konoha will have its youngest Hokage in Sarada Uchiha in the upcoming years.

I realize that Boruto started as a sequel to Naruto, but due to Naruto's massive presence, it's been a pretty tough road to travel. Boruto has finally emerged as a proper protagonist in his own right. But will he be a hero on the same level as his father? Or maybe even surpass him? To be honest... I'm not entirely sure what'll happen, myself. That'll depend on the support of our readers, so please keep on cheering for us. —Ikemoto
