This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Rasengan is one of the most iconic jutsus not just in Naruto but also in Boruto. It was invented by the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and later evolved into stronger and more enhanced variations, the latest of which is the Rasengan Uzuhiko in Boruto. The jutsu continues to evolve throughout the years, and it won’t be a surprise if a new Rasengan user appears after Boruto Uzumaki.
Boruto Uzumaki debuted Rasengan Uzuhiko in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 2. Unlike previous variants of Rasengan, the Uzuhiko incorporates a planet’s chakra, as shown in his one-sided fight with Code, who suffered tremendously from the semi-permanent damage he received from the attack. But after Boruto, there’s a character with the potential to learn Rasengan and it’s Himawari Uzumaki.

Boruto Uzumaki is powerful, but his next Jutsu will be even more overpowered in Boruto TBV.
The Many Users of Rasengan in Naruto and Boruto
From Minato to Boruto
- The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, created and perfected the Rasengan.
- The Rasengan has evolved throughout the years.
Throughout the years, fans became witness to the many users of Rasengan in the world of Naruto and Boruto. In fact, some are still arguing about who is the real creator of the Rasengan, whether it's Minato Namikaze or Ashura Otsutsuki. Minato is widely recognized as the inventor of Rasengan, as he was the shinobi who developed the jutsu and perfected it in a span of three years.
However, the technique itself was named by Kushina Uzumaki, who rejected Minato’s idea of naming Rasengan as Halo Frozen Dessert Hair Whorl Jiraiya Twin Formula Sphere. Obviously, the name was too long and overly complicated, so it's thanks to Kushina that the jutsu gained a short but punchy name. It’s difficult to imagine the Rasengan being called Halo Frozen Dessert Whorl by its user while in battle.
Moving on, the Rasengan has been passed down to several generations of shinobi, who added their own twist to the jutsu. Naruto Uzumaki evolved Rasengan in the most extraordinary ways, creating Rasenshuriken, Nine-Tails Mode Rasengan, and even Super Ultra Big Ball Rasengan, to name a few. Then there’s Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, who also developed a variant of his own from the Vanishing Rasengan to the Rasengan Uzuhiko.
Himawari Uzumaki Might Be the Next Rasengan User After Boruto
Kurama Could Teach Himawari How to Use It
- Himawari Uzumaki might learn Rasengan.
- Kurama might teach Himawari how to use Rasengan.
With the current direction of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Himawari Uzumaki is one of the characters fans need to watch out for, especially now that Himawari has been revealed to be an incarnation of a human-tailed beast. To make it clear, Himawari is not a jinchuriki like her father, Naruto, but a being similar to the Shinju Jura, who is the direct incarnation of the Ten-Tails.
In other words, Himawari is Kurama, and Kurama is Himawari for some reason still unexplained in the manga. This means that they are one entity, sharing the same essence and chakra. That said, it would not be a surprise if, somewhere down the line, Himawari Uzumaki learns Rasengan through Kurama’s guidance. After all, Kurama has firsthand experience of witnessing the jutsu’s evolution.
Himawari, you're not a Jinchuriki. You're more like Jura. — Kurama
Himawari Uzumaki’s Rasengan might not even be a copy of her father’s and brother’s versions but rather a completely different variant. When it does happen, fans will surely celebrate the moment, especially if her variant is far superior to Boruto Uzumaki’s Rasengan Uzuhiko. Given her immense potential, it’s only natural for Himawari to wield an overpowered version of Rasengan.
Naruto Uzumaki Is Still the Strongest Rasengan User
Naruto Has Evolved Rasengan in Extraordinary Ways
Without a doubt, Naruto Uzumaki is still the strongest Rasengan user, despite the new variants that Boruto has in his arsenal. Boruto’s Rasengan is still far from being perfect, but with more training and practice, he may have the potential to surpass Naruto one day. He still needs to master Uzuhiko, despite the terrifying damage it could cause to the target when hit directly.
In addition, Boruto should improve the technique to avoid an enemy like Jura, who can rescind the effects of Rasengan effortlessly. Facing an opponent like Jura, who knows the same principles applied in Rasengan, exposes the limitations of the technique. Who knows, maybe Himawari could create a stronger variant of Rasengan with new elements and improved mechanics that could prevent it from being neutralized.
