In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the Shinju clones emerge as the new major antagonists that Boruto and the rest of Konoha must overcome. Born from the Ten Tails and Code’s self-awareness, they are modeled after some powerful shinobi like Sasuke, Moegi, and Shinki. They possess immense strength and appear invincible, but the latest chapters of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga already reveal one of their weaknesses.

Among the Shinju clones, Ryu and Matsuri are currently engaged in a high-stakes battle against the Leaf Village’s Konohamaru, Sarada, and Mitsuki, alongside the Sand Village’s Yodo and Araya. As the clash unfolds, Jura observes from afar through the Divine Tree’s shared senses, closely monitoring the events and learning vital information. What he finds alarming is an unfamiliar concept that may cause serious problems for his kind.

The Shinju Clones Need to Overcome Love

Love Puts Matsuri in a Dangerous Position

An unexpected vulnerability among the Shinju clones comes into focus in the latest chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex as Matsuri goes toe-to-toe with her target, Konohamaru Sarutobi, while Ryu deals with Sarada, who has recently awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan Ohirume. As the fight between Matsuri and Konohamaru unfolds, Jura realizes that the concept of love carries a huge risk to the Human God Trees.

Love is an unfamiliar and complicated concept to the Human God Trees, one that derails their thought process and clarity. This becomes especially evident during Matsuri’s encounter with Konohamaru, as Moegi’s lingering feelings for the Leaf shinobi resurface within her and guide her actions and decisions. When they first met each other, Matsuri started blushing, and she had trouble breathing upon looking at him, much like a maiden in love.

"I just want to call you Konohamaru-chan!!! What's the big deal?!?"—Matsuri

As a result, Konohamaru takes advantage of Matsuri’s confusion and unpleasant feelings following Shikamaru’s orders to exploit her vulnerability. He befriends Matsuri and wins her over until he draws a line when she tries to call him by the same nickname Moegi always uses that nearly gets him devoured. Still, Matsuri's feelings and affections cloud her judgment, and before she knows it, Konohamaru betrays her, his hands holding a Giant Rasengan to attack her.

Jura Believes Love Is a Harmful Side Effect of Intelligence

Love Could Be a Fatal Flaw for the Shinju Clones

The Shinju clones, especially Jura, are in pursuit of knowledge and information about the world they are born to. This delays them from destroying Konoha, as the village becomes a vital source of information. However, their pursuit of knowledge and intelligence also has a harmful side effect called love, alongside the concept of reasoning, which corrupts the judgment of the humans.

Upon seeing Matsuri’s disappointing fight with Konomaharu, Jura is quick to reiterate that they should not overlook the concept of love. After all, it is what corrupted Matsuri after she wavered in devouring Konohamaru due to her conflicted feelings. She was so close to her goal, but love held her back, allowing her to shed tears for her enemy and feel sadness, among other emotions.

"This other concept carries with it the risk of causing even us Divine Trees serious problems. It's called love"—Jura

Since the Shinju clones are adamant about following their instincts, Jura reveals that their instincts warn them to understand the very concept of love and overcome it. If they fail to comprehend this intriguing concept, they risk meeting the same fate as Matsuri, whose feelings for Konohamaru prevail over her instinct to devour him.

So far, the concept of love is the only thing causing an issue for the Shinju clones in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. As the plot thickens and more chapters are released, it's expected that more details about their vulnerabilities will be revealed. They remain as the major antagonists of the story, with Jura leading the group. Unlike Code, the Shinju clones take their time understanding the world before following their original driving instinct, making them even more dangerous.

"Why do I have these feelings?! It's so painful…and makes me crazy mad!!"—Matsuri

According to Shikamaru, the Shinju clones are like newly born offspring who don’t have true evil intent because they’re merely reacting to their instinct. However, they’re not as dumb as some of them look and are not easily manipulated. In addition to the immense power they hold, they have the potential to evolve and become all-knowing in a remarkably short amount of time.

For now, the threat of the Shinju clones becomes clearer and more serious to Boruto and his friends as they continue their pursuit of self-identity. Surely, more exciting developments lie ahead as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex reveals more information in its upcoming chapter releases.
