The next chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is just around the corner, but Sasuke Uchiha is still missing in action. Fans have been patiently waiting for Sasuke’s return, wishing to see Naruto Uzumaki's powerful rival come back stronger in the Boruto manga. Konoha needs Sasuke back, and so do Boruto and Sarada, especially against Jura and the God Trees.

Sasuke Uchiha remains a very powerful character, even after Kishimoto and Ikemoto nerfed him not just once but twice. The longer he stays absent, the more his character is wasted. Even so, fans know very well that Sasuke is going to return sometime in the future, and when he does, he’s going to complete a very difficult and dangerous mission in Boruto.

Sasuke Uchiha is rotting away, even though the roots of his tree-state remain strongly intact in the ground. He has been out of commission for quite a long time now, but fans know his return has been set in motion with the introduction of the thorn soul bulb—a mysterious onion-like object that appears after a Shinju Clone has been defeated. Fans know this bulb is the only key to Sasuke’s return, at least for now.

However, defeating a Shinju Clone, particularly Hidari, is going to be difficult. Sarada will most likely fight Hidari next, and Sasuke’s return will depend on the outcome of their epic showdown. Sarada Uchiha’s latest power-up, Mangekyo Sharingan: Ohirume, has been proven effective against Shinki’s clone, Ryu, in the Land of the Wind, so there’s always a chance she could outpace Hidari the same way.

For now, Sasuke will most likely remain in his tree-state, as the Boruto manga is setting up another Shinju fight that might not involve Hidari. Mamushi might be the next Shinju to stand on the battlefield, fighting against Eida and Daemon. This showdown has been spotted in one of Kashin Koji’s visions, which means Sasuke’s return might be delayed once more.

Sasuke’s Next Mission Might Be to Protect Naruto

Jura and Code Are Still Coming for Naruto

There’s no doubt that Sasuke Uchiha is going to come back as soon as Hidari is defeated by Sarada or anyone from the next generation. He is going to return before Naruto, but it remains uncertain whether Sasuke will regain the Rinnegan and his left arm once he’s free from the tree. Fans are expecting to see Sasuke’s full recovery, considering Jura effortlessly regenerated his injured parts in the battle against Kawaki.

When Sasuke returns, his next mission might be protecting Naruto from the villains. With Jura and Code targeting Naruto at the same time, Sasuke will have no choice but to step in and confront the powerful enemy head-on. After all, Sasuke has been fighting by Naruto’s side from chapter one, so it won’t be a surprise if he becomes involved just to ensure Jura and Code don’t succeed.

Sasuke is not as strong as he was before, so he needs a solid power-up to stand against Jura and Code. Unless Kishimoto is planning to kill Sasuke, this could be the perfect time to give him a long-overdue power boost. Without a game-changing power-up, Sasuke could end up in a more difficult situation.

Sasuke vs Jura or Code Will Be Intense

A rematch between Sasuke and Code might be inevitable in Boruto. These two characters have unfinished business, especially Sasuke, who likely remembers their last encounter. Then there’s Jura, with whom Sasuke could come into conflict because of Naruto. Sasuke could fight one of these characters as soon as he gets back on his feet, but there’s also a possibility he could fight them at the same time.

With Code acting like a pawn to Jura’s plans, at least for now, it won’t be long before Sasuke faces them together. Fans are expecting Sasuke’s next fight to be intense, so Jura and Code, as his enemies, would challenge him and push him to his limits. Of course, it's also possible Sasuke won’t face them alone, with the writers pairing him with either Boruto or Sarada.
