This article contains spoilers from the Naruto and Boruto series.
Ever since Naruto Uzumaki was sealed away in the Boruto series, fans have been eagerly waiting for his return. As most fans would remember, Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage of Konoha, was sealed away by Kawaki towards the end of the first part of Boruto. This was because he wanted to eliminate all Otsutsuki to keep Naruto safe, including his son, Boruto Uzumaki. Since then, Boruto has entered a new era with Two Blue Vortex, and fans know very well that eventually, he will return.
It's Time To Welcome The New Itachi Uchiha Of The Naruto Franchise
Itachi has a new heir, and it's a character from Boruto.
Naruto's return itself isn't a point of contention anymore, as it's bound to happen sooner or later. But, what most fans are worried about is his level of power. After having lost Kurama, Naruto Uzumaki is far weaker than before, which means he won't be able to defend his village like he used to, that is, unless he gets a new power-up. It just so happens that the Boruto series has now officially set up a new power-up for him, and Masashi Kishimoto, the supervisor of the series, has once again highlighted the fact that the Seventh Hokage is bound to get stronger.
Sasuke's Sword Upgrade Means Naruto Will Get A Power Up Too
Most recently in the Boruto series, fans saw Sasuke Uchiha get a big power-up without even being involved in the story directly. Just like Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha was cut out of the story by being sealed, in a way. While Naruto was trapped by Kawaki, Sasuke fought Code and ended up being turned into a tree, and his chakra gave birth to Hidari, one of the strongest Shinju. Since his fall, Boruto Uzumaki carries on in his absence. Fans know very well that Boruto wears his clothes, and even carries his sword, which he borrowed from him.

Stronger Than Naruto: The Next Hokage In Boruto Will Be The Strongest
Naruto Uzumaki is strong, but the future Hokage of Konoha will surpass him in Boruto.
Eventually, Boruto Uzumaki will return this sword to Sasuke Uchiha when he does return. However, this sword won't be given to Sasuke as it was. It has officially been upgraded using technology from the future. In other words, Sasuke will be stronger when he returns, which also means Naruto will have to get another power-up too.
Years ago, Kishimoto confirmed that Sasuke and Naruto progress together. When one grows stronger, so does the other. If Sasuke returns with a powerful new sword, then Naruto will have to get a big power-up too, and it's practically confirmed that he will have to receive some significant power now.
Naruto Needs Something New To Fight At The Top Level
When Naruto does return in the Boruto series, he won't be able to fight the biggest of threats the way he is. At the moment, he only has access to Sage Mode, and while that's strong, it's not enough to fight the likes of the Shinju or the Otsutsuki. Naruto needs better abilities, and Ikemoto and Kishimoto will have to figure something out for him. Perhaps, he will be given a new power-up using scientific technology that Konoha is slowly advancing in. But, an even better power-up would be for him to re-establish his connection to the Tailed Beasts.

Fans Want Tailed Beast Power For Naruto
Naruto may have lost the power of Kurama, but the other Tailed Beasts still exist. He could seek them out and re-establish a link to them, and by doing so, gain immense power once again. One way or another, Naruto Uzumaki needs to grow stronger in the Boruto series, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what's next for him. The Seventh Hokage has been away from action for way too long and it's time he shows everyone what he's truly made of.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 28 is set for its official release on November 20, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
