This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex continues strong, with each month giving the fans new and exciting battles to look forward to. Just recently, Boruto concluded a new arc that shed a lot of light on the likes of the Shinju, and at the same time, gave the fans plenty of exciting power-ups to enjoy as well. In the midst of it all, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex also gave the fans crucial information on the return of Naruto Uzumaki.
Say Goodbye To Naruto Uzumaki, And Welcome The New Strongest Character In Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki is powerful, but there is one stronger ninja in Boruto now.
Ikemoto and Kishimoto both know how important it is for Naruto Uzumaki to return to the story, but it seems that while he is being mentioned in the story every now and then, his actual return doesn't seem to be all that imminent. On the surface, it appears that nobody truly knows when Naruto Uzumaki will return. But, a deeper look clearly tells the fans that Kishimoto and Ikemoto have both already revealed to the fans that Naruto Uzumaki won't be coming back for the next few years. The earliest that fans can and should expect Naruto to return should be in around 3 years from now. This may be sad, but at this point in time, it appears to be where the story is headed.
Naruto Uzumaki Will Return After Boruto Vs Kawaki Battle
Naruto Remains Sealed For Now
- Kawaki Implies Naruto is still sealed away
- Boruto will have to beat Kawaki
In the recent arc of Boruto, Jura specifically mentioned that he is targeting Naruto Uzumaki. This means that for Jura, consuming Naruto Uzumaki is of the utmost importance. Jura knows that Naruto Uzumaki is alive and he will try his best to get to him, but at the same time, Kawaki is also aware of the fact that Jura now has key information on Naruto Uzumaki.
Naruto Uzumaki is alive. Your reaction tells me all I need to know. — Jura to Kawaki
Boruto: Kishimoto Officially Confirms A New Otsutsuki-Level Ninja
There are many powerful ninjas in Boruto, but not many can be considered Otsutsuki-level.
In other words, Kawaki will try to defend Naruto Uzumaki harder than before. Fast forwarding to the battle between Kawaki and Boruto, fans can clearly tell that Kawaki is still in control of Naruto and has him sealed still.
Kawaki clearly tells Boruto that he intends to send him to the same place where he kept Naruto Uzumaki, and that is very important. It means that Jura will fail to get to Naruto Uzumaki and will be killed before that. It also means that Naruto Uzumaki won't be freed before the battle between Kawaki and Boruto Uzumaki.
I will send you to the same place as Lord Seventh, Boruto. — Kawaki to Boruto Uzumaki
Naruto Won't Be Back For A Few Years
Fans Should Look At A 2028 Return Date At The Earliest
At this point in time, there doesn't seem to be any indication of a battle between Kawaki and Boruto happening. Fans know that the Shinju must be dealt with first, and after that, fans will probably see the plot points surrounding Akebi played out.
It is only after that that a battle between Kawaki and Boruto will take place, and after this battle, Naruto will return officially. Given that three Shinju are still alive, it will most definitely take at least 15 chapters for them all to fall, and another 10-15 for the story to get to the point where Kawaki and Boruto fight. After that, the battle itself will take a couple of chapters, which means that Naruto Uzumaki will return after 3 years, at the very least.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 27 is set for its official release on October 19, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
