Right now, Sasuke Uchiha has been cut out of the plot entirely and this is because the writers wanted to have the new generation bask in all the glory instead of the old one. Sasuke Uchiha has officially been turned into a tree by Ikemoto, and while that is sad, it also spells danger for Konohagakure. Thankfully, Sasuke Uchiha has an official successor now who has taken over the responsibility of saving the village from the shadows, and that's none other than Boruto Uzumaki.

  • Sarada didn't follow in Sasuke's footsteps

When Boruto began, it was apparent to all the fans that Boruto Uzumaki was nothing like Naruto. Instead, his genius was a lot more similar to that of Sasuke Uchiha, and more than that, Boruto naturally gravitated towards Sasuke more than his own father. Upon seeing Sasuke Uchiha a couple of times, it was clear to Boruto Uzumaki that Sasuke was actually the one he wanted to follow in life. By the end of the Boruto movie, he swore to become more like Sasuke Uchiha and support Sarada when she becomes the Hokage.

Now, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Boruto Uzumaki has officially delivered upon his word. It is safe to say that Boruto has fulfilled his potential and he's the protector of Konoha now in the absence of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Just like his father, he's a disgraced shinobi, but he still protects the village from all threats, even if it means his death.

For now, the biggest threat that Konoha faces at the moment is the Shiju group. They're soon going to attack the village, for one reason or another, and when that happens, fans know very well that Boruto Uzumaki will be there to stop them. He won't get any riches or glory for doing so, but he will still be there for the village when they need him, and that's what makes him a perfect successor to Sasuke Uchiha. Fans can only hope that Sasuke returns in the future of the story as well and that these two get a chance to watch over their loved ones together as they protect Konoha.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 27 is set for its official release on October 19, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
