This article contains spoilers for the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Summary
- Sumire and Sarada might not be each other's biggest love rivals in Boruto anymore due to Eida's evolving feelings.
- Eida's focus is shifting from Kawaki to Boruto, showing signs she may choose him over time in the series.
- Eida could become a significant obstacle in Sarada's pursuit of love with Boruto.
The characters in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex are no strangers to the concept of love. Sumire is known to harbor feelings for Boruto early on, while Sarada recently accepted her complicated emotions. Of all the characters, even Jura longs to understand the concept of love. However, what Sumire and Sarada didn’t know was that someone more competitive than them might become their greatest rival in love sooner or later in the Boruto series.
So far, Sumire is poised to be Sarada’s closest rival in Boruto’s heart. She is vocal about her feelings, going so far as to let almost everyone, except Boruto, know about it. Some fans even began to rally behind her, shipping her with Boruto. Sarada, on the other hand, is the closest candidate to becoming Boruto’s endgame, given their deep bond. The problem is, someone is taking an interest in Boruto, and it’s slowly becoming more obvious.
Boruto: Sarada Uchiha Is Strong, But 1 Female Character Can Still Defeat Her
Sarada Uchiha is strong, but one female character can still defeat her in Boruto.
Sarada's Greatest Rival in Love Might Be Eida
It Might Not Be Sumire Anymore
Sarada Uchiha caught many fans by surprise when she suddenly revealed her true feelings for Boruto in recent chapters of Two Blue Vortex. Many fans have been speculating about her emotions for a few years now, considering her strange and awkward behavior whenever the topic revolves around Boruto. Now, fans are sure there’s hope for the BoruSara ship to sail sometime in the future.
But even before Sarada accepted her feelings, there’s Sumire, who has always been in love with Boruto. The former class president, now assistant to the research lab, doesn’t shy away from sharing her feelings for Boruto with other people, including Sarada. Even Eida, who’s not supposed to hear about her feelings, is now aware of her affection for Boruto. Still, she was one of the reasons why Sarada learned to face her complicated feelings.
"Does that bother you, Sarada? That other girls might like Boruto? Well, it certainly bothers me!"—Sumire Kakei
However, what Sarada and Sumire didn’t know was that Eida’s feelings were starting to change. It’s pretty obvious that Eida’s feelings for Kawaki are fizzling out, especially after her unexpected conversation with Mitsuki about the concept of love. If so, Sarada’s greatest rival might not be Sumire but would be Eida. After all, Eida is the complete opposite of Sumire and is too aggressive when it comes to love.
Eida’s Sudden Change of Heart
Her Feelings for Kawaki Are Shifting
While Boruto: Naruto Next Generations showed an Eida who had zero intention of pursuing Boruto, Two Blue Vortex shows a new and different side to her. In the beginning, all Eida wanted was to be with Kawaki, constantly rejecting Boruto despite him being the closest candidate to her heart. She believed Boruto was too young for her, someone who’s the exact opposite of Kawaki.
Eida was even willing to sacrifice Boruto to reach Kawaki when she was still in cooperation with Code. And even after she decided to stay in Konoha, she was obsessed with the idea of falling in love with Kawaki more than anything else. However, her attitude and the way she sees Boruto started to change after the effects of Omnipotence. Not only did she promise not to look for Boruto and Sasuke when they went rogue, but she also started getting sick of Kawaki’s cowardice.
Boruto… are you really 12 years old?—Eida
Now, Eida’s attention is clearly shifting toward Boruto rather than Kawaki. She refuses to cause trouble for Boruto, almost as if she doesn’t want anything that will bring further harm to him. In addition, she’s obviously impressed by Boruto’s maturity, yet she restrains herself from going too deep to avoid losing her fantasy of love with Kawaki.
So, Is Eida Falling for Boruto Now?
It’s Not Impossible
The Boruto manga has yet to delve into Eida’s feelings for Boruto again, but the change in her heart is gradually becoming noticeable. She’s getting tired of Kawaki’s antics, including his immaturity and abuse. She’s aware that Kawaki is only using her abilities, yet it isn't enough to convince her to stop. In other words, she’s so in love with the idea of loving Kawaki that she refuses to free herself from him.
Above all else, I don't want to cause trouble for Boruto.—Eida to Shikamaru
That said, it would not come as a surprise if Eida suddenly chose Boruto over Kawaki sometime in the future. She might be the rival Sarada needs to be wary of, instead of Sumire, in the long run. Knowing Eida, she would not give up easily, considering the struggles she had to face to find genuine love in the Boruto manga.
