The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series has given the fans a ton of exciting content so far, with the likes of Boruto Uzumaki and the other new generation characters almost always being involved in major battles. Fans have come to love the story for what it's offered so far, and it is only going to get better as the old characters return. One of the biggest gripes that fans have with Boruto is that it doesn't feature the old, already established characters as much as it should. Even Naruto and Sasuke, two of the most important characters in the franchise, have hardly featured in the Boruto series.

That said, things are bound to change sooner or later as their return is inevitable. Fans know very well that Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki are only temporarily incapacitated, and that when they do return, they'll be strong once again. In fact, the Boruto series recently confirmed that to the fans when it finally revealed a new power-up for Sasuke Uchiha, without him even being involved directly in the story. Sasuke’s trusted Uchiha blade has just received a powerful upgrade and when he does return, his sword will be stronger than ever, and he will be on a completely different level.

For the fans confused about Sasuke's latest power in Boruto, all they need to do is look at the weapons Boruto wields. During the timeskip, Sasuke Uchiha drilled all his techniques into Boruto Uzumaki and made sure that he had everything that he needed to succeed as a shinobi. When Sasuke fell in battle to Code, Boruto Uzumaki borrowed his sword since his own broke.

It's Time To Welcome The Next Naruto Uzumaki In Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki was the greatest of his generation, but this new gen ninja will come to replace him in Boruto.
Now, Boruto wields the sword of Sasuke temporarily. It must also be remembered that Boruto Uzumaki was trained by Kashin Koji using prescience, meaning the power of the future was directly used to make him stronger.
With this future power, Boruto Uzumaki secured a scroll that contains a big upgrade for Sasuke Uchiha’s sword. In the previous chapter of Boruto, fans saw Boruto Uzumaki approach Sumire and ask her to upgrade the blade for him with technology that doesn't even exist in the current world. This technology will make the sword even stronger and take Boruto to the next level. But, at the end of the day, if it's truly anyone's upgrade, it's Sasuke Uchiha's.

Sasuke Will Gain More Powers After His Return
The Sword Is Only The Beginning
Once Sasuke Uchiha returns, fans should expect Boruto to return the sword to him. Even if Boruto keeps the sword, Sasuke will find a replacement and since the technology now exists in the current world, it makes sense for Sasuke to have it too. Most likely, Sasuke will take his own weapons back after his return. In either case, Sasuke Uchiha already has a new power in Boruto.
Shockingly enough, this is his first power upgrade since 2015. Back in 2015, Sasuke Uchiha gained the power to open portals to Kaguya’s dimensions using his space-time Ninjutsu. Since then, he's not received any new abilities. Now, his new sword marks a shift as Sasuke is finally getting new powers too. It'll be interesting to see how much stronger this new power makes him, but for that, Sasuke first had to return, which could still take a few months, at the very least.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's chapter 28 is set for its official release on November 20, 2025. The release time of the chapter is 10 AM EST/ 3 PM UTC. As always, fans can read the chapter officially for free on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
